"Oof! Gahahahah!" Gale heard and watched as a large man falls on the ice. He gave a soft chuckle and brought his hand to pat the whimsicott in his lap.
"Well, Rhea, we'll stay out here for a couple more minutes then head inside. I'm sure you're getting hungry."
"Miii~"
Gale smiled a soft empty smile and pulled out a pair of earbuds from his pocket. He put them in and watched the calm treeline just to the other side of the lake while listening to some of his mother's music. It's been a while since he heard her music. Her music always had this way of calming him down and help clear his thoughts.
'I wish you were here...' He thought, patting the whimsicott again. She wriggled beneath his fingers, trying to escape the cold. She wasn't the biggest fan of the cold and was still trying to get used to her new body. She poofed up her cotton, to wrap her self in it. The extra insulation around Gale's stomach was greatly welcomed.
Shortly after, he was cast in shadow. As if something large and massive had put itself between him and the setting sun. Gale looked up and saw the hulking form of what he could only assume to be a mountain block his view. He pulled the earbuds out, barely hearing the man over the music.
"Ahh, sorry. You said your name was...Leonard?" He asked, craning his neck so that he could look up to the man's face. He was a tall man, nearly half a foot taller than Gale.
"What's going on? Am I in your way here?" he asked, not wanting to upset the man who could clearly wreck him if he wanted. Gale wasn't clean on getting the snot beaten out of him again.

Blinking, Leonard scratches the back of his head when he notices that the young fellow pulls off a pair of headphones. He didn't hear what he had been listening to, but the sudden relaxed change in the stranger's body language told him enough.
"Oooh, sorry about that mate. Didn't realize you were listening to some music." The man laughs boisterously as he apologizes before nodding.
"Yup, Leonard's the name and this fine, little lady here is Crysta." Said Pokémon greets the stranger and her fellow Fairy type with a wave of her arms and a chime-like tone in her greeting. Pointing a finger to the Pokémon on his shoulder, he accidentally pokes her in the stomach with enough force to make her tumble off of him. With twirling arms, the pink Pokémon tries to regain her balance but alas her efforts while adorable are for naught. Eyes widening, the man stumbles about - further distressing Crysta by taking away any steady footing she could have gotten - and tries to catch the little thing but just misses her. Luckily the snow is piled up high enough that it breaks her fall, making a sound like something smacking in a fluffed up pillow. The man releases a sigh of relief, having briefly been terrified of her hitting her head as she slipped right between his fingertips. The Fairy Pokémon pulls herself out of the snow and shakes her head, throwing off the snow piled on top of her head before glaring at her trainer. The man simply bursts out in laughter at the far too cute pout on her face, prompting the Pokémon to waddle over to him and harmlessly slap his shin, which only intensifies his merry.
"Hahaha, oh-oh I'm hahah I'm so sorry Crysta. Now come -hehe- here, you." Bending down, the bearded man hauls up the Pokémon who has her arms raised not unlike a newborn asking a parent to pick them up. Once placed back on his shoulder, the Pokémon continues to scold him while jabbing a finger in his cheek. Unfortunately for the little thing, this only sets him off again.
"Crysta! Stop it, hahahah! You know that tickles more than anything! Hahahah!" With a huff and crossing her arms, the clefairy looks away with a pout. Her trainer wipes away a few tears from the corners of his eyes before sending an amused glance at her. Shaking his head with full confidence that she'll forgive him in a manner of minutes, he focuses back on the other human.
"Sorry about that mate. Where was I? Oh right, introductions!" He slams a fist in an open palm at remembering. "So yeah, the name's Leonard - third time's the charm! - and Crysta. I just came over because you seemed like you needed a friend."
His eyes shift towards the little Pokémon on the stranger's stomach, before chuckling. "Oh, woops. I meant a human friend. You seem like you need one. Maybe talking to a complete stranger can clear you mind? Do you mind if a take a seat next to you?"

-Chris Seenter- As Chris approached the boy the Bronzor hovered down between it charge and the stranger. It let out an angry hum that caused the would be rescuer to stop in his tracks and raise his hands placatingly. ”It’s ok. I mean no harm. I just want to help.” The steel/psychic Pokemon made no move to let Chris by, and the boy’s cries dwindled to hiccupping sobs.
Looking around Chris noticed that no one else seems to have witnessed the fall, and that left him to deal with the kid. Where are his parents? He figured they were the ones who trained the Bronzor to protect the boy from strangers, but what would happen if this was much worse. Samis stood tensed behind her master. Lucky for them the boy was still young enough to trust strangers. ”B-breaker.”
Chris looked down surprised to hear the words between the sobs. ”What?” The boy looked up and spoke the word again; this time a bit more clearly. ”Breaker. T-to stop him.” He motioned at the still agitated Bronzor. Chris nodded and turned his attention on the ‘guardian’. ”Breaker.”
The Bronzor stopped his angry humming and floated there looking at Chris hesitantly. Keeping his hands up and moving slowly Chris moved his way past the Bronzor and knelt next to the child. And realized with a start that the child wasn’t as young as he thought. And the boy was instead a young woman. She was in her early teens, maybe 14 in age. And she was short for her age.
Wiping the tears from her eyes she looked up at Chris and smiled. ”Thanks for coming and checking on me. I don’t do well with pain.” If the cry was any indication Chris had already guessed that part. He reached down and helped her to her feet. ”Are you ok?” The girl nodded. ”It hurts, but I think I’m ok.”
With her permission Chris checked the spot that hurt. It appeared that her skate had caught her in the thigh when she fell; leaving a shallow cut through her pants. Her ankle also seemed to be starting to swell, and Chris knew that she needed medical attention. Nothing big, but still better safe than sorry.
Chris escorted her to the small medical tent that had been erected near the skating rink in case things like this happened. Both Samis and the Bonzor followed behind watching their respective owners. After wishing her farewell Chris turned and headed from the rink. He felt he got as much as he could out of the party, and decided to turn in early.
-James Greyknow- As he approached James took the time to examine the woman who sat alone. She had long black hair that fell to her mid-back. She wore a modest red dress that looked stylish, yet wasn’t enticing like some of the other gowns he saw. In truth he didn’t know much about clothes beyond what his uncle tried to teach him; which was primarily how to spot when someone was faking being wealthy. When he noticed her face he could see that she was around his same age with piercing green eyes and a tired smile on her lips. She was obviously trying to hold it together for the party.
James continued on past, and he felt Ray turn on his shoulder to keep looking at the woman. It was obvious the Ralts wasn’t going to let this go, and he let out a sigh as he pretended to look around the room. His eyes fell on the empty chair next to the young woman, and his eyes light up in mock surprise. As if looking for a place to sit had been his intention all along. He walked over and motioned to the chair. ”Is this seat taken?”
The young woman looked up at him, and then looked at the several other empty chairs that were further away. He felt a flash of irritation coming from Ray, and guessed he was intruding. ”I don’t t-“ Before she finished he cut her off. ”My name is James Greyknow. I’m Nathan Greyknow’s nephew.”
That seemed to do the trick, as through Ray he felt the woman’s conflicting emotions. Annoyance at being approached like this, hesitant at turning away a potentially powerful connection, and the underlying feeling of loneliness that pervaded everything. Finally with a sigh and a feeling of resignation through Ray she nodded. ”Very well.”
James gave her a smile and sat down. This was the first time he had used his uncle’s name in such a way, and made a mental note to ask his uncle if it was alright. He didn’t want to cause any trouble to the man who ‘brought him out of darkness’.
Whether it was because of his uncle’s reputation or the emotional prompts from Ray; James managed to get the young woman to open up a bit. Her name was Sarah, and she had come to the gala with her two best friends Carl and Jim. Both of her friends were male, and she had been dating one of them, Carl, for several months. Things had been going well until about an hour ago.
Carl had gone off to get her a drink, and Jim followed to get his own. She had waited for them to get back, but after about 20 minutes decided to look for them. Neither were at the bar, and one of the other patrons pointed her in the direction they went. When she finally found them; things had turned from Sunny Day into Rain Dance. The two ‘male best friends’ were busy exploring each other’s mouths with their own.
Feeling sick to her stomach Sarah had fled to the bathroom to puke up her meager party treats. She had cried like a baby for several moments: puking up her emotions as well as her meal. After finally calming herself down she fixed herself up and headed back out. She found them where they agreed to meet, and she told them she must have eaten something bad. ”I just pretended like nothing happened. How messed up is that?” She told them she just needed to sit and rest, and the other two had wandered off after seeing some people they knew in the crowd. That’s when James had the nerve to sit down uninvited.
James let out a long breath and sat back in his chair. This was way more than he expected, and he had no clue what to say that could make it better. Then he said something stupid. ”I don’t know what to say.” Sarah let out a sigh and leaned back. Her emotions were still a bit raw, but they had dulled to a steady ache. ”You listened. That’s all anyone can ask.” So maybe he it wasn’t quite so stupid.
Taking a deep breath she stood up. ”I should get back to them.” James nodded and stood as well. ”What are you going to do?” Sarah shook her head. ”I don’t know yet. But now I think I’m good enough to get through the gala.” She turned and looked at James. ”Thank you.” With that she turned and melted into the crowd.
James stood there for a moment scratching his head and trying to puzzle out what had happened. Before she disappeared Ray had given him the impression of determined coming off of Sarah. Shaking his head he turned and headed for the front door. He felt like he had enough of an emotional roller coaster for two.

“Dear Arceus, look at the size of this place.” Alex took a sip of champagne, his face lighting up as it hit the back of his throat. “And this is a drink! Jerboa really knows how to make something special.”
“Uh huh.” Luke muttered out a response. His eyes, unlike his uncle’s, were focused more on the people milling about the room. The room was quickly becoming packed as people came to see the various wares being auctioned off throughout the evening, and the presence of such a crowd was quickly causing the room to increase in temperature. It didn’t help that he had this damned suit and vest combo on. He began tugging at the bow tie he wore for the umpteenth time. “And how did you get us in here again?”
Alex glanced over and slapped Luke’s hand away from his collar. “Quit that. I did not pay for that mankey suit for you to mess with it that much. And as for “JahJah”, he has helped out several of the professors with connections and funding throughout the years. I snagged some tickets in a hope to get a little bit of that going for myself.” The professor gave Luke an oily grin, but the smile quickly faded as his eyes locked on something across the room. Luke turned and tried to pin down who Alex saw. He finally settled on a woman who had just entered the room. She was roughly the same age as Alex, though the curly bob she wore made it hard to pin down. While Luke wasn’t much for fashion, even he could tell that the dress she wore outclassed what the duo of men were wearing combined. She was followed by an entourage made up of three younger members, each dressed just as lavishly. As he watched, she looked at the pair and gave them a wink, one as cold as the depths of the lake outside, and continued farther into the room.
“I’m guessing you two know each other?”
“That’s Triana. You might’ve heard her mentioned as Dr. Sanz. She’s a colleague of mine.” Alex’s face only continued to sour as he watched the party disappear.
“Right… and that has you upset because…?”
“Upset? I don’t know what you mean.”
“Alex, even people over in Kotoba can tell you’re pissed at seeing her. ‘Fess up. What’s going on here? Please tell me we aren’t here because of her.”
“What? Oh, no, not at all. Don’t worry Luke, we are here simply on business. I’m just looking at expanding my projects, and JahJah knows everyone and everything. If I can get a few minutes with him, he should be able to throw me a bone.” He took another sip, savoring it for a minute. “And if he happens to have a juicy lead that gets to me before Triana, that would just be an unfortunate coincidence.”
Alarm bells were sounding off in Luke’s head. “Oh no. No. Alex, we are not doing this.”
“Doing what?”
“You’re letting your feelings get to you again. When someone irks you, you get all competitive and go way too hard at it.”
Alex shrugged defensively. “Luke, c’mon now… Okay, so maybe I do that occasionally. And sure, Triana and I may have had some small arguments over using university resources, but this is all purely business, I promise. I just need some help grabbing a project to begin once this one finishes up. And hey, you know what? You should be pretty invested too, since whatever I get impacts your job… and pay.”
Alex heavily emphasized the final few words, giving Luke baby doll eyes as well. They looked ridiculous on him, but Luke decided to cave a bit. “Okay, fine. I’ll trust you… but I’m keeping my eyes on you, understood? So what do we need to do?”
“Great! It's simple, really. I just need to talk to JahJah, and you… need to distract Triana and company.” Alex turned to the side as he downed the rest of his drink, purposefully avoiding the heat of Luke’s glare.
“Alex.”
“I just need a bit of time, Luke. Even a thirty second headstart would be huge. Please?”
Luke rubbed his temple, trying to get the heat out of his face before responding. “Fine. On one condition.”
“Anything.”
“I want a Delimas bonus.”
“How about something else?”
“No. I want a Delimas bonus, and I want it tonight.”
Alex grabbed Luke’s shoulders and gave him a light squeeze. “But I already bought you this great suit, plus your ticket to get in. Doesn’t that already count?”
“Delimas. Bonus.”
Alex’s face contorted multiple times as a plethora of emotions, both known and unknown, before settling on tight lips and a glare. “You had better be a damn good distraction for this. Deal.”
Luke broke free from the man’s grip and stepped back. “Good, I’m going to go and get a drink, and then see what I can do. Oh, and one more thing before I go.”
“Yes?”
“You wouldn’t have agreed if you weren’t competing.”
Before the fuming professor could say anything else, Luke slipped away.
The last few remnants of sunlight kept the horizon a medium blue, something which quickly faded to an inky blackness speckled with shimmering stars. Aiden was not alone in watching the light fade from the patio, but he was one of the few visitors riding solo. Kevin was originally supposed to come with some sort of date, but plans had changed at the last minute, and he had ended up begging Aiden to take one of the tickets and go in his place. He wasn’t really a big fan of stuffy parties like this, but Kevin had insisted, so here he was. He’d made it through the opening ceremony before the insufferable nature of it all had gotten to him and he had needed to step out. Personally, he was pretty proud of that, though he was certainly going to tell Kevin he did a bit more than that.
The final few drops of light finally drained from the sky, meaning it was time for Aiden to find a new distraction. He looked down and across the ridiculously expansive property. Sledding had been taken over by most of the younger guests, so that was a hard no for Aiden. Several people were skating on the lake, which might be a good way to blow off some steam later. He had to go back in to get some details for Kevin at some point anyway, so saving that for the grand finale seemed like the way to go. And then there were the woods... Now those seemed intriguing. Especially because there weren’t a lot of people there right now. That would be pretty nice.
“Hey, you. Get out of the way, will ya? We want to see the view too.”
Aiden turned to see who was talking. Behind him was one of the many hot tubs dotting the patio. Inside were several college kids, all of them with eyes glued to him. One guy, probably the leader of the group, waved his hand at Aiden, shooing him away. Aiden scowled but stepped away from the railing. The kid smiled smugly before returning to whatever conversation he was having with the rest of them, none of them paying much attention to Aiden or the view.
Aiden didn’t mind. He was actually pretty glad about that actually. He didn’t need them to pay him any heed. It was just time for him to walk away and see what else was going on here tonight…
Aiden noticed that all of them had their clothes stacked in semi-neat piles near the tub. It didn’t take long to determine which were the cocky bastard’s. Aiden calmly walked past the tub, pretended to tie his shoe, snatched that one pile, and continued on. The trash can next to the door was a good place to store them. He dropped them inside and continued on past. Yeah, it was time to disappear in the woods for a bit.

Brandon, Luis, and Aaron silently watched from afar as Aeneas and the college girl talked like scholars whenever they pointed and visited one artifact to another. Whenever he talked, the college girl awed. It was the same way when the college girl discussed more what she learned. Despite being far away from his home town, talking to her about what he loved made him feel like he was back in the safety and comfort of his own home. Aeneas wasn’t even afraid to laugh in front of her and not feel like a complete embarrassment.
“When did Aeneas began to talk like that?” Bradon raised his eyebrows. The three watched Aeneas and the woman approach a very expensive-looking vase with squares marking the Pokémon that’s completely unknown to them.
“Wish we had this Aeneas,” commented Luis, sounding a little disappointed.
Then, their voices grew louder and suddenly more frantic. “Nonono! Don’t touch that!” Aeneas yelled.
“Wait!” yelled the woman. Then, a sudden crack followed by a choir of gasps. After that, silence except for the awkward distant Delilmas music echoing about a Stantler performing a hit-and-run on a grandmother.
The crowd took several steps back, revealing to Brandon, Luis, and Aaron the scene of the crime: the expensive vase shattered into a million shards on the floor. At the center of the crime, Aeneas, the woman, and a random little girl eyed on the shattered vase and then on the crowd, completely paralyzed.
“Isn’t that the owner’s favorite vase?” A random guest muttered loudly enough for the three to hear.
“Oh shit…” Brandon nearly covered his mouth.
“Uhhhh! It was him!” The girl pointed her finger at Aeneas and fired off with no warning shot. Then, she bolted away from the room.
And the audience targeted their glares at Aeneas and the woman. Aeneas’ knees began to shake and buckle; The thousand glaring eyes of the crowd now shrinking his confidence to nothing. Aeneas tried to open his mouth, but the most vocal sound he could muster was the sound of his mutters. And no one can hear it, even if the Stantler song wasn’t blaring.
Aeneas found no choice but to do the noblest thing at a sudden notice: pointing the blame at the woman and then running away himself.
“Aw shit!” cried out Luis, and the three chased after Aeneas.

The kitchen was absolutely bustling with activity. Members of the house staff were darting to and fro, grabbing appetizers and drinks to whisk immediately out to the sea of guests eagerly waiting. No one was idle in here - no one except for Luke. Yet, even with the busy buzz around him, it still felt less chaotic than the mob waiting just behind those double-doors.
He had just spent the past twenty minutes milling about, trying to get closer and closer to Triana and pick up anything that could be used as an effective distraction. However, all he had been able to get was tipsy. Those waiters were extremely effective at keeping a drink in his hand.
A beep on his holocaster let him know he had a new message. He took a quick glance and scowled. Five minutes. Five minutes until it was time, and he had nothing.
“Excuse me, sir? Do you need something?”
The new voice startled Luke out of his thoughts. A mousy-looking woman had a plate with some sort of miniature puff pastries on it and was looking at him with concern while simultaneously inching her way past him and towards the door.
“Huh? Oh, I’m not sure I need anything, tha-” The slur in his speech became a bit heavier right at the end, and from her reaction, it didn’t go unnoticed.
She pointed over at a small counter. “There’s some water, tea, and coffee right there. Feel free to help yourself.” She gave him one last glance before scurrying off to continue with her mission.
He moved over to the counter and began looking through all the options, of which there were plenty. Maybe one of these teas would help him wake up a bit? Something had to help…
That’s when he saw it. There, out of the corner of his eye. On one of the other multiple countertops nearby, someone had left out some dry ingredients from earlier baking. And one of these just so happened to be salt.
Luke looked back and forth between the coffee pot in front of him and the crystals just a few steps away. Oh, this was a bad idea. A terrible idea. One that could backfire horribly and at best would be extremely uncomfortable for him. And yet… a little bit of alcohol goes a long way in emboldening someone, and with a Delimas bonus on the line, everything was an option.
He quickly poured himself a cup of black coffee and then mixed in a few spoonfuls of salt. Another beep from his holocaster signalled what he already knew was coming. Being careful not to spill this, he quickly walked out of the kitchen and entered the thralls of people again. He quickly moved between groups of people, using his height to try and grab a glimpse of his target. He hadn’t been gone too long, so she shouldn’t have moved far from where he had last seen her... there! She and her assistants were all gathered around a carving of some marine pokemon.
Now or never. Steeling himself for what he was about to do, he marched directly towards them, long strides quickly taking him there. His sudden approach seemed to grab at least a little bit of attention from the group, but by then it was too late.
‘Remember, do it for the bonus.’ And with that final thought, he tilted his head back and downed the concoction. As soon as it hit, he knew. Distraction accomplished.
The light quickly faded as Aiden moved closer to the tree line. Even with the central tree being lit brilliantly, the dense foliage seemed to suck up the majority of it, and the distance from the house meant its luminance struggled to reach this far. That was okay, though. With the lower light came a much quieter scene, one that was incredibly peaceful. The sound of snow crunching under his boots became the main baseline to this moment of serenity saved just for him. He took a deep breath of the fresh air, relishing the bite of the cold on his lungs, before exhaling slowly, letting far more tension than he realized he had escape with it.
Darkness suddenly enveloped his view in front of him. The tree, just a few seconds ago glowing from practically every angle, was now nothing but a black smudge against the night. Aiden’s smile began to slowly fall as he realized that somehow the tree had gone out. Grumbling to himself, he began walking forward to examine it. Maybe a cord had come unplugged and he just needed to find it.
That theory quickly went out the window as he got closer. It was hard to pick up at first, but soon enough it was clear. A girl’s giggle drifted in the light breeze, followed by the slightly deeper tones of a boy’s voice. It was hard to pick up exactly what it was, but they sounded younger than him. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what was going on now. Hell, Aiden had slipped into alleys and behind buildings with high school sweethearts before. No reason to ruin their time immediately. The tree could always wait.
Being careful to not make too much noise, the man began slowly retreating, leaving the young couple be. He skirted around the outside of the trees and began approaching the mansion again, letting the lights of the party guide him closer. Yet, when he reached the edge, he paused. He wasn’t ready to head back in himself. He leaned against the last tree of the row, putting much of his weight onto it while he just looked around and took in the surroundings. Up on the patio, he saw someone animated splashing around at one of the hot tubs. From the looks of it, they weren’t wearing too much, a scene which made Aiden chuckle. Over the other direction, the children from earlier had split into two groups, with one half deciding to stop sledding to instead build a snow fort.
Seeing them play in the snow reminded the man of something. He fished around in his pocket until he found the small capsule he had shoved in there before coming. With a quick button press, his little companion appeared. The green ear-like appendages on his head began darting back and forth wildly while the creature looked around. When his eyes locked on Aiden, the appendages instead stood straight up. Aiden sighed.
“Relax, Green. Just relax. No fighting today. Just… enjoy being out.”
The chespin stayed on guard, still glaring at his trainer. Aiden hadn’t exactly done a great job endearing himself to the pokemon in their time together so far, and normally he wouldn’t give a damn about trying to change that. And yet… its Delimas. Now is as good a time as ever.
He slowly reached down and gathered some snow in a rough snowball. Making sure Green saw it clearly, he softly tossed it over to the side. Green jumped when it landed, but after realizing he hadn’t been hit, he went over to investigate. Aiden took this time to create another, and threw it back where Green had originally been. This time, Green chased after it, nibbling on the remnants after it landed. They kept this going for a while, a rough form of fetch where Green got to eat some snow instead of bringing anything back. It was not very elegant, but it was something, and Green only continued to become more energetic as it went on. Much more like his normal state when not around Aiden.
Green finally got another burst of energy and began bounding around in the snow, ignoring Aiden and his tossing game. The man let his last snowball fall to the ground at his feet, and just watched for a minute. It was a damn cute chespin, he had to admit. He pulled out his holocaster and began recording this moment. It would be nice to send to Kevin, who would probably gush over it. And yet, deep down, Aiden knew this video was for himself as well. A future reminder to let Green be, and to enjoy the little things like this every once in a while. Even something as simple as a calm and snowy Delimas.

Everything was so fancy, it felt like it belonged in one of her dreams. Adrienne tried to keep the thought from intimidating her, but the décor was doing enough to do so on its own. Massive white and gold snowflakes glittered like priceless treasures while people and Pokemon laughed and enjoyed each other's company. She rested a hand on her Pokeballs, as if trying to make sure they hadn't vanished. Since everyone else had released their Pokemon, she wondered if she should do the same. It didn't seem fair to just let one out, but she also wasn't sure Felicia or Shu would be personable. One would cause mischief just because, and the other wouldn't really do much of anything.
Still, that didn't mean others couldn't enjoy the evening.
That decided, she pulled three Balls from her bag making sure the penned on designs were the ones she wanted. Three forms appeared in flashes of light, revealing a massive floating rock, an orange fox Pokemon, and the familiar green of her first companion. Smiling, Adrienne gestured to the party.
"We have been allowed to attend, but we have to be on our best behavior. Ray, Hoppa, stay with me." She said, trying her best to sound commanding.
The two newcomers didn't seem to respond, but they also didn't run off. Deciding that was the best she was going to get, she motioned for them to follow her.
Now that she'd gotten inside, the real tick was going to be figure out what she was going to do.

Much too grand. The mansion? Decorated from floor to ceiling, the grandiose house- is that even a word for such an large place? Entering Godai alone was enough to make her feel out of place. This 'house' made it clear how much out of place she was. Still, she had Cerebrum, and he was wrapped comfortably around her shoulders. The pack pack she'd found was a little rundown, much like her clothing that had seen better days. She definitely looked like a camper.
Still, she had been eager to try and make it aside from her internship. Something to give her a sense of peace or home. She was mistaken. She felt so... odd. Everyone else was mingling and assumed to be having a good time except for her. That wouldn't do, her mind decided. With a hand combed into the thick of Cerberus' back fur, she looked for someone who hopefully was in a similar situation. She hummed brokenly- more so do to her nerves than her lack of talent or experience. But she spotted another young woman as she released her team, a command on her lips.
Ah, a native? She'd never seen the pokémon, perhaps she could start that? "You have an interesting team," was her accent that thick? Yes, it was. But she tried her best to stiffle it so she was understandable but... "Sorry, I don't know if that was rude. ...hope not."

Adrienne spun, holding up a hand as if warding off any harsh reactions. Her hair swung with her motion, and she struck the Solrock with the long strands, though she didn't seem to notice.
"O-oh, its not rude! But I'm not much of a Trainer, I kind of just chose them because they were what I found." She flushed, looking over her Pokemon.
"A-are they that bad?" She asked hesitantly, but with a note of pride to her voice, underneath the tension and worry.
For his part, Bauly had moved close to Adrienne and glared up at the other woman. He was wary of her Pokemon as well, though Hoppa didn't seem, nearly as reserved. Ray just watched the interaction with a strangely intense glare. Adrienne wasn't sure she'd ever seen the Pokemon blink, just float and stare.
But after the depths of the cold in the flats, she wouldn't trade the floating rock away for all the money in the world. His warm embrace was always comforting, and though some might frown or be confused by such affection for a round orange rock, she found she was truly rather fond of him.
"I'm Adrienne, the green one is Bauly, the little one is Hoppa, and the big guy is Ray." She offered

"Oh! I'm not much of trainer myself," the words seemed forced but a snuffle her ear brought her from her thoughts. She combed her fingers through Cerberus' fur as assurance that she was fine but floundered a bit once the girl spoke again. She seemed to slowly deflate- she hadn't meant to imply anything bad! But she introduced herself as Adrienne and Alista took the chance to hopefully fix the misunderstanding.
"Its a pleasure to meet you all. Ah, I'm Alista and this," she motioned to the zigzagoon. "Is Cerberus. Sorry if it sounded like I was applying something negative- I'm here in godai for my internship, I'm not real familiar with the place or its pokémon yet." She fiddled with her hands and Cerberus chittered excitedly, more than likely ready to make friends. The round rock had kind of an intense stare, it was a just a tad alarming- the small green one didn't seem to keen on her presence at the moment, but the orange fox like pokémon didn't seem to mind either way.
"I'm actually, well," she took a deep breath and smiled through her nerves. "Would you be against having some company for the gala? I'm not sure about looking around alone, but you seem friendly enough so, yeah," she should probably stop talking now.

Adrienne made a hasty calming gesture, "I don't mind!"
She relaxed visibly, bending over and picking up Bauly. The grass type squirmed, but eventually accepted its fate, settling for glaring ominously at the other Pokemon and Alista. Ray watched as Hoppa investigated Cerberus, sniffing as she bobbed playfully. The little fire type didn't seem shy, but bounced a lot as she tried to get the strange zigzagoon to respond.
"Your Pokemon..." Adrienne asked, hesitated as her face flushed.
"Did you dye it? Its not like any Zigzagoon that I've seen, but I'm not really... I grew up around herbs and flowers, so I don't really know Pokemon." She explained, trying to make sure she didn't sound judgemental about the situation.

The whole affair seemed gaudy, overdone, and wonderful. The decorations, glittering with silver and pearlescent frills, wafted in the breeze stirred by the building's central air. Fires roared in oversized fireplaces while children chased Pokemon, weaving through the cluttered crowds as they let out cries of laughter. Parents looked on with a forced air of scorn, though they smiled when they thought no one was looking.
Josh tried to skirt the main groups traversing the hall, hoping to avoid attention. He stood out, he knew he did, but he felt more comfortable with the reassuring weight of the plate and duster. He ran a hand along his Pokeballs, considering the Pokemon others had released. He pulled out a battered Pokeball, letting out a small pink and green grass type.
"Neenee!" Steenee cried as she stretched, looking around with big eyes. She glanced up at Josh, smiling at him as she stretched her calyx. She ran up to Josh, wrapping her arms around one of his legs, glaring at anyone she deemed to be getting too close.
"You know, you might have to share me one day," Josh said, sighing. The Pokemon didn't react, though he hadn't expected her to. She'd always been clingy, though evolution hadn't done much to help her grow out of it.

So far, the party had been rather underwhelming. As Josh sat at the edges of the gathering, he and Steenee hadn't really been approached by anyone, and had mostly been left to watch the crowds as they came together, separated, and came together again in a different configuration. Still, it was a refreshing break from the mayhem of his daily life, and Steenee seemed to be enjoying the snacks that had been provided.
"Think we should let Cavaliero out?" Josh asked the small grass type. She looked up at him with questioning eyes, calyx drooping. He could almost swear that she seemed upset that he was talking about another of his Pokemon, but that had to be giving her too human of a motivation, right?
"Think about it, he could chase all these people and it wouldn't be nearly as boring." Josh added. Steenee didn't respond, continuing to give him that big eyed stare.
He sighed. As much as he might have complained, he missed travelling with Luna. She always managed to keep things from being boring. That was what was really eating at him. Take away the glitter and the ceremony, and things like this were boring so long as you were by yourself.

Bree honestly couldn't believe she was here. The Snowfall Gala was something she had only heard about, an event for the rich and famous, and something that she SOMEHOW was lucky enough to get into! As she made her way through the Evergreen wood, she tended to try and avoid eye contact with people at first. So many of them looked so... FANCY! She was wearing her most formal outfit she owned, a dark green kimono with a light green silk sash that she wrapped around behind her.
Her hair was up in a bun, with a few of her bangs waving in front of her face. her glasses stood out, but she couldn't really help that now. As she made her way through the wood, staying in this area as it felt more familiar to her then the rest of the fancy estate. As she made her way to the center of the wood, her gaze fell across the massively decorated tree. Being lit from top to bottom, Bree couldn't help but stare in aw at the sheer majesty of it.
That is until the lights all went out. Bree could hear a couple people mumbling about it, though at first nothing of consequence. That is, until she heard someone yell "What the hell is this bug doing here?" Bree snapped to attention, and ran towards the cry of the woman who said this. Upon arrival, she found a wild Grubbin, attempting to eat the plug. As she made her way forward, she released Nugget from his Pokeball, saying "No worries! I'm a trainer and a bug specialist, let me handle this!"
With a nod, the woman backed away a bit. As she stepped forward, she simply took the plug from the wild pokemon, as she had Nugget push the Electric type away, the sparks it gave off not doing anything to her ground insect. After not too much effort, the other bug pokemon ran off, and the tree was back to being a bright fixture in the woods once more.
