Hair Color & Style: Luke has long auburn locks covering his head in a spiky, unkempt mess. He tries brushing it at least out of his eyes, but otherwise lets it run rampant. This hair merges with short mustache and beard he keeps. Unlike his hairstyle, this facial hair is well kept and maintained.

Eyes: Hazel in nature, with brown being the dominant color along the outside of the iris. There is a thin inner ring of green and gold encircling the pupil.

Clothing/Accessories: Luke usually wears a short-sleeved navy button-down shirt over a red undershirt. For his legs, he wears athletic fit jeans that taper down to his ankles, where black sneakers cover his feet. In hot weather, he will exchange the jeans for shorts, as well as removing the button-down shirt. For colder weather, he dons a dark green coat and a black beanie, and switches out the sneakers for a pair of tan waterproof boots.

Regardless of weather, Luke will be found with a dark green waterproof backpack that stores his extra clothes and a small collection of newly purchased camping equipment. A small pouch on the side houses an old pocket knife, a gift from his grandfather when he was young. Finally, attached to his belt is a small holster for pokeballs. This holster sits above his left rear pant pocket and is usually hidden by his backpack.

General Appearance: With new crowds, Luke drips with charismatic energy. His large, toothy grin is very welcoming, and as his animated style of speaking provides an upbeat tone to the conversation. He carefully ensures that all guests feel cared about, and always goes out of his way to make sure they feel heard. Some will say that this feels forced, and that his movements seem rigid, almost mechanical. Still, most enjoy this aspect of him, and don't question it.

Those that get close to him see a completely different side, however. His broad shoulders lower, and he either sits or leans against something as much as possible, appearing weighed down by some invisible force. His large grin shrinks, becoming close-lipped smile of quiet content. His eyes often trail off to the side, looking to some unknown location with a look of sad, pained acceptance as he thinks, before snapping back and locking on to someone with unwavering attention. This version of him slows down, becoming much less animated and rigid. However, he still has some of that energy, and it comes out in the form of fidgeting. Usually this comes in the form of shaking his right leg slightly, bouncing it up and down. When nervous, this changes to constantly trying to pop his fingers or neck.

Luke craves knowledge and understanding. This is not a simple curiosity or basic inquisitiveness. Luke feels empty, like there is a void within that needs to be filled in order to make him whole and let him find who he should be. This is the single driving point for himself at the moment, as he is constantly searching for anything that makes him feel passion, resolve, encouraged, or even just a little more hopeful than the day before. This drives him to seek out the unknown. He spends his spare time reading about new things he heard of that day or learning about a new activity he just got to try. When traveling, he takes the long, slow way, stopping or veering off the path plenty of times to see what he has missed before. And when night comes and he has to settle down, he always has some fictional book on hand in order to venture to lands unseen before he sleeps. Discovery like this fuels his internal determination to find fulfillment and keeps him moving forward through time.

One constant in his life that gives him this feeling he craves is helping others. He naturally draws people to him that are somehow burdened, and he is all too happy to give them the help he would love to get himself. Succeeding in helping a person allows him to share in their experience, and through that get a taste of their happiness. Oftentimes this is what allows him to keep going, especially during times when internal strength is running low. This also is when he acts most passionate and alive. He will put everything into this task, and leave no stone unturned in the search for a victory for that person… and for himself.

However, should they be unsuccessful in whatever they are trying to accomplish, the failure cuts deep. He becomes drained emotionally, mentally, and sometimes even physically from the strain he has put himself under. This oftentimes puts him into a state of anxiety and fear, and he will often hide himself away after this, for this draws him close to his biggest fear: needing help. The irony is something even he himself will admit internally, the fact that he craves others to help him find out who he really is and help him find happiness, while at the same time being absolutely horrified to the core of burdening others with any and all issues that are his. He abhors any thought of admitting weakness, because to do so would be to finally admit externally that he messed up and does not like the path that he has taken.

The silence of solitude can be healing, and for Luke, it is his go-to method for calming himself down. Whether it’s in a park, a back alleyway, or even a locked bathroom, time alone allows Luke to let these thoughts run rampant for a short period of time, before they burn themselves out and quiet. Once done, he will go out and search out a friend, an acquaintance, or just any place where he can have others nearby and just be. With others, especially those he can get close to, he opens up and relaxes a bit. He enjoys trading jokes with others, and talking about everything from hobbies to life. This time takes him to the next step, from just being okay to actually having some optimism. He views the world as a more accessible place, one that he will be able to enter and find his own niche in soon enough.

Financial hardship is nothing new to the Windsor family. Lucas' father, Alton, grew up on the line between poverty and the lowest of the middle class, and his wife Katrina grew up in a foster home with five other children. As such, when the two met and fell in love, they were able to make every dian stretch as they fought to find a niche for themselves in the world. Success was found when Alton got a job as a shift leader for a bottling company in Cascadia City, and the couple settled down and began a family. Soon, Lucas and his younger sister, Alison, were running around the small apartment, and the four were happy.

A thrifty lifestyle was all the family knew in Lucas' younger years. Alton's job paid just enough for them all, leading to a very strict budget. Generic brands and secondhand clothes were the standard, and birthdays and holidays were usually more about having a bigger meal or a single special treat than getting many presents. Without too many toys to play with, Lucas and Alison focused on using their imaginations and having each other to pass the time when at home. This led to a very close bond between the two, even though the mischievous side of Alison caused some minor fights between them. Still, this bond existed well into their teens.

When Lucas became old enough to go to friend's houses to play, he suddenly became aware of the difference between him and the other children in his grade. Toys were much more abundant there, and he was also introduced to video games. Lucas greedily absorbed all of this, experiencing things he had no idea even existed until then. He would beg his parents to go to other children's' homes or parties, and they often obliged. Eventually, it was suggested that he bring friends over to their apartment, and he happily agreed. His parents set it up, and two close friends came over one weekend to play. The day started roughly for them. Used to the sparseness of his home, he was surprised and unsettled that his friends found it weird. This only continued when he brought out his toys, and one friend asked if that was all he had. This shook the young boy, and even though they ended up finding plenty to do between the three boys and their imaginations, that question left an imprint in Lucas that would not readily go away.

As elementary school ended and secondary school began, the divide continued to be noticed. Lucas was unable to really keep up with the changes in fashion that became so popular so suddenly, nor did he have access to some of the expensive technology his classmates had. Thankfully, he had a witty personality and was charming enough to not struggle with keeping friends through these tough developmental years. That didn't stop the slight pain that he always felt when looking at the options and items others had, nor did it hide times where he awkwardly had to leave a conversation because it drifted towards discussing the next trip others would be taking or who would get a Pokemon first. The only people he connected with over this were his sister and a girl named Julia. She was in his class and had parents working in the same bottling factory as his father. The two of them would drift to a corner and talk whenever the other conversations turned towards those topics, and found solace in talking about their own lives and what they were excited for next. Eventually, this connection grew from acquaintances to best friends and deeper still, with the two going on their first date in grade 8.

From that day forward, Julia and Luke were inseparable. Their y ears of close friendship gave them a strong foundation, one that they chose to build off of. They studied together most weekends, hung out with other friends in a group, and even found their own ways to have personal dates when spending wasn't an option. They certainly took advantage of living in a city of canals, and walked many of them hand in hand.

Their relationship went much deeper than long walks and homework assignments, however. It was also a source of refuge for each other as they struggled to grow and figure out what they wanted in life. Julia helped keep Luke calm and optimistic about the future as he dealt with feelings of inadequacy compared to the lives his classmates lived. Julia, meanwhile, was encouraged by Luke's drive, and he helped push her to dream and not just settle for the life she had always known.

Life ended up sending them separate ways in grade 10. Julia's father was offered a better job elsewhere, and the family had to move. Julia and Luke walked the canals one last time, accepting that their time was over, and mutually parted. It was not an easy split, however, and Luke struggled with his feelings for a while behind closed doors. Eventually, he found solace in pursuing a better future once again. He decided to wait to date again, convincing himself it was to focus on succeeding and having a better life before having to commit to someone else. It was never something he truly believed, but it was enough for him at the time.

During this time in secondary school, Luke began showing true promise academically. His parents, who had not been very successful themselves when in school, were overjoyed. They praised him and pushed him to pursue a college degree, believing that a degree would allow him to get a job that paid well and would allow him to live a life better than they had been able to have. With this support and encouragement, and with the idea that financial freedom could soon come, Luke dove into his studies. He spent hours studying and preparing for exams, as well as looking ahead to potential universities he could enter. He cut down on his limited social life, especially after Julia left, and made the chance to go to college his sole focus. This exhausted him and left him feeling unhappy at night when he finished. But his dream was strong, as was his parents', and so he ignored those feelings and pushed forward. To him, everything would be fixed once he graduated and got to college.

Year 12 soon came, and with it the decision of what to pursue in college. His grades were among the top in the class, and he had been accepted to a few different ones throughout the country. There were many factors to consider, the most important to the family being cost. The Windsor family struggled with this decision for several weeks before a sudden offer made the path clear. An ore company in Sangproctor City needed more business degrees, and had developed a program that would help provide housing and some financial aid in exchange for getting one of several predetermined degrees and working at the company both during school breaks and after graduating. To Lucas, this was an obvious winner, as it provided the main goal for going to college immediately: financial security. He accepted, and upon graduation from secondary school, moved to the city to attend SangCity University for a business marketing degree with a geology minor.

The coursework was grueling. Luke found himself quickly dreading the work to come. While he somewhat enjoyed the geology courses, the math and business courses made him feel dreadful. Soon, he found himself wanting to skip classes and ignore the work altogether. It just did not feel right to him. He called his parents to talk to them at the end of the second week, and they were tripping over their own words to tell him how proud they were. Listening to this broke his heart, and he felt his heart sink as he realized how much it would hurt them if things did not turn out like they imagined. And, of course, the more he thought about his situation, the more he convinced himself that things would be okay. He had a company investing a lot of time and money into him, parents that supported him, and a chance to graduate with a job and almost no debt. He would be silly to not be happy with his situation. With that mindset, he continued onward. It did not matter that classes still were painful for him, or that he found it hard to relax or enjoy himself at the university. It did not matter that once the semester ended, he found the work at the mining company incredibly slow, stale, and mind numbing. It didn't matter that two years in to the degree, the mining company downgraded its offer due to how expensive it had gotten, requiring Luke to pick up a job as a busboy in order to continue being able to pay for the cramped studio that once was covered by others. It didn't matter that this exhausted him and left him with no time between classwork and real work to do anything else. To him, everything would be fixed once he graduated and got that job.

Finally, after a grueling four years of work, he graduated with acceptable grades. His whole family celebrated, going out and eating at a restaurant nicer than anything they had gone to before. To them, it was worth the price, because Luke had signed with the company and had a starting salary better than his father's current salary. It also didn't hurt that Luke promised to pay them back after his first paycheck. They celebrated deep into the night, and for the first time in quite a long time, Luke felt happy. He had succeeded, and he was sure this would all make up for the years of hard work he had poured into it. Nothing could ruin this.

The first several months passed rather quickly. Luke made acquaintances within his section of the company and became quite popular around the water cooler. His work ethic and willingness to work long hours gained favor with his supervisors. As such, he was very much rewarded for his efforts. Soon, he had a fully furnished apartment that was all his, with a fully stocked fridge, a television and video game system, and room to spare. He could go out and eat whenever he wanted, he was able to travel back and see his family with relative ease, and overall had the opportunities he never had while growing up. For this reason, he kept pushing down the dissatisfaction he felt, burying it even as it kept growing week after week.

The emotional barrier broke almost one year into his new job. After a night out with work mates, he felt numb. He fell down onto his couch and watched the first bland game show until the sun had fully disappeared. In the dark of that room, as he watched a family celebrate winning some grand prize, he broke down and cried. All those emotions came rushing back at once. The discontent with his life choices, the dull ache of dissatisfaction, and the fear of falling back into his previous life all washed over him in waves again and again as his mind was a flurry of memories as it tried to make sense of the chaos. Finally, after a miserable hour of unrelenting emotion, he began to calm down. His memories drifted back to being a child, when he and Alison would imagine an adventure to go on as they ran around their living room. He remembered dinners with his parents, laughing and teasing each other for hours on end. And he remembered being with Julia as they walked the canals of Cascadia, too broke to do anything else that night and not caring at all. All of that had made him so happy, and yet he had pushed that to the side because of how sure he was that getting rid of a tight budget would make him far happier than any of those were. This being wrong was a revelation to him, and he decided then and there that he needed two things: he needed to make real friends, and he needed to find something he could be at least passionate about, regardless of money. The only issue stopping him was that he did not know what his passions were. He spent so many years focused on what would allow him to be successful that he had not really stopped to search for anything that gave him that spark. Even his few extracurricular activities had been more for filling his applications or otherwise making himself look better. With this, he had no real idea where to start.

That weekend was spent pouring over the internet, trying to see what was out there for him. His mind quickly was overflowing with possibilities. There were so many options, so many locations that he had never been to or events he had never considered. His tunnel vision in his youth had made him settle for the first offer he found good, but now he could see so much. The opportunities were endless and overwhelming to him. A giddiness enveloped him as he continued looking on. Until the work week began. The shock of being back in those walls after such a transformative time jarred him. The lack of purpose was predominant on him that day, and by the end of his shift, he knew without a doubt that his passions would never lie in that building. He had to quit and find something else to do, and he had to do it soon.

When he returned home, he got back online and went searching again, although this time for potential jobs that might give him what he needed. The same lack of passion still clung to him with every click and scroll of the wheel, with no relent in sight. He had nearly given up for the night after hours of uncertainty when he finally saw it. There, in the corner of his screen, was an advertisement for the TIS. Intrigued, he clicked on it and opened it up. As he read about the path, a plan began forming for him. This job would pay him to travel. It likely wouldn't be extremely lucrative, but it would allow him to travel the country and really see what the world offered him. And more importantly, it would give him time to find out who he was and wanted to be.

He signed up for an expedited Pokemon training course the very next day, and began studying for both the license test and the TIS test. He began selling extra items, saving money, and planning ahead for his travels. He stopped staying late for work, and didn’t spend much time out with his work mates anymore, drawing some attention to his changes. He kept brushing them off, giving various excuses as it went on. He could tell they were not accepting his fibs after a while, but eventually they let it be. The silence was welcomed, as being able to finish work quickly and leave helped him bear with the remaining months he had to work. With his newly freed hours, he was able to study more, search for advice on beginning in the TIS or training in general, and ordering the necessary equipment.

A few months later, he finally finished the course and was able to apply for his trainer's license. He made it through the application process and easily passed the written test, getting his license. He went home and applied for the TIS then and there, before sighing and staring at a blank page in front of him. After a few minutes of uncertainty, he steeled his nerves and filled out a letter of resignation for his work. He emailed it in and closed his laptop. Even though he wasn't guaranteed a position in the TIS, he was moving forward towards it with everything in him. And for once, even with the fear and doubt that bubbled down in him, he felt thrilled for the first time in a long, long time.

When Lucas became old enough to go to friend's houses to play, he suddenly became aware of the difference between him and the other children in his grade. Toys were much more abundant there, and he was also introduced to video games. Lucas greedily absorbed all of this, experiencing things he had no idea even existed until then. He would beg his parents to go to other children's' homes or parties, and they often obliged. Eventually, it was suggested that he bring friends over to their apartment, and he happily agreed. His parents set it up, and two close friends came over one weekend to play. The day started roughly for them. Used to the sparseness of his home, he was surprised and unsettled that his friends found it weird. This only continued when he brought out his toys, and one friend asked if that was all he had.  This shook the young boy, and even though they ended up finding plenty to do between the three boys and their imaginations, that question left an imprint in Lucas that would not readily go away.

As elementary school ended and secondary school began, the divide continued to be noticed. Lucas was unable to really keep up with the changes in fashion that became so popular so suddenly, nor did he have access to some of the expensive technology his classmates had. Thankfully, he had a witty personality and was charming enough to not struggle with keeping friends through these tough developmental years. That didn't stop the slight pain that he always felt when looking at the options and items others had, nor did it hide times where he awkwardly had to leave a conversation because it drifted towards discussing the next trip others would be taking or who would get a Pokemon first. The only people he connected with over this were his sister and a girl named Julia. She was in his class and had parents working in the same bottling factory as his father. The two of them would drift to a corner and talk whenever the other conversations turned towards those topics, and found solace in talking about their own lives and what they were excited for next. Eventually, this connection grew from acquaintances to best friends and deeper still, with the two going on their first date in grade 8.

From that day forward, Julia and Luke were inseparable. Their y ears of close friendship gave them a strong foundation, one that they chose to build off of. They studied together most weekends, hung out with other friends in a group, and even found their own ways to have personal dates when spending wasn't an option. They certainly took advantage of living in a city of canals, and walked many of them hand in hand.

Their relationship went much deeper than long walks and homework assignments, however. It was also a source of refuge for each other as they struggled to grow and figure out what they wanted in life. Julia helped keep Luke calm and optimistic about the future as he dealt with feelings of inadequacy compared to the lives his classmates lived. Julia, meanwhile, was encouraged by Luke's drive, and he helped push her to dream and not just settle for the life she had always known.

Life ended up sending them separate ways in grade 10. Julia's father was offered a better job elsewhere, and the family had to move. Julia and Luke walked the canals one last time, accepting that their time was over, and mutually parted. It was not an easy split, however, and Luke struggled with his feelings for a while behind closed doors. Eventually, he found solace in pursuing a better future once again. He decided to wait to date again, convincing himself it was to focus on succeeding and having a better life before having to commit to someone else. It was never something he truly believed, but it was enough for him at the time.

During this time in secondary school, Luke began showing true promise academically. His parents, who had not been very successful themselves when in school, were overjoyed. They praised him and pushed him to pursue a college degree, believing that a degree would allow him to get a job that paid well and would allow him to live a life better than they had been able to have. With this support and encouragement, and with the idea that financial freedom could soon come, Luke dove into his studies. He spent hours studying and preparing for exams, as well as looking ahead to potential universities he could enter. He cut down on his limited social life, especially after Julia left, and made the chance to go to college his sole focus. This exhausted him and left him feeling unhappy at night when he finished. But his dream was strong, as was his parents', and so he ignored those feelings and pushed forward. To him, everything would be fixed once he graduated and got to college.

Year 12 soon came, and with it the decision of what to pursue in college. His grades were among the top in the class, and he had been accepted to a few different ones throughout the country. There were many factors to consider, the most important to the family being cost. The Windsor family struggled with this decision for several weeks before a sudden offer made the path clear. An ore company in Sangproctor City needed more business degrees, and had developed a program that would help provide housing and some financial aid in exchange for getting one of several predetermined degrees and working at the company both during school breaks and after graduating. To Lucas, this was an obvious winner, as it provided the main goal for going to college immediately: financial security. He accepted, and upon graduation from secondary school, moved to the city to attend SangCity University for a business marketing degree with a geology minor.

The coursework was grueling. Luke found himself quickly dreading the work to come. While he somewhat enjoyed the geology courses, the math and business courses made him feel dreadful. Soon, he found himself wanting to skip classes and ignore the work altogether. It just did not feel right to him. He called his parents to talk to them at the end of the second week, and they were tripping over their own words to tell him how proud they were. Listening to this broke his heart, and he felt his heart sink as he realized how much it would hurt them if things did not turn out like they imagined. And, of course, the more he thought about his situation, the more he convinced himself that things would be okay. He had a company investing a lot of time and money into him, parents that supported him, and a chance to graduate with a job and almost no debt. He would be silly to not be happy with his situation. With that mindset, he continued onward. It did not matter that classes still were painful for him, or that he found it hard to relax or enjoy himself at the university. It did not matter that once the semester ended, he found the work at the mining company incredibly slow, stale, and mind numbing. It didn't matter that two years in to the degree, the mining company downgraded its offer due to how expensive it had gotten, requiring Luke to pick up a job as a busboy in order to continue being able to pay for the cramped studio that once was covered by others. It didn't matter that this exhausted him and left him with no time between classwork and real work to do anything else. To him, everything would be fixed once he graduated and got that job.

Finally, after a grueling four years of work, he graduated with acceptable grades. His whole family celebrated, going out and eating at a restaurant nicer than anything they had gone to before. To them, it was worth the price, because Luke had signed with the company and had a starting salary better than his father's current salary. It also didn't hurt that Luke promised to pay them back after his first paycheck. They celebrated deep into the night, and for the first time in quite a long time, Luke felt happy. He had succeeded, and he was sure this would all make up for the years of hard work he had poured into it. Nothing could ruin this.

The first several months passed rather quickly. Luke made acquaintances within his section of the company and became quite popular around the water cooler. His work ethic and willingness to work long hours gained favor with his supervisors. As such, he was very much rewarded for his efforts. Soon, he had a fully furnished apartment that was all his, with a fully stocked fridge, a television and video game system, and room to spare. He could go out and eat whenever he wanted, he was able to travel back and see his family with relative ease, and overall had the opportunities he never had while growing up. For this reason, he kept pushing down the dissatisfaction he felt, burying it even as it kept growing week after week.

The emotional barrier broke almost one year into his new job. After a night out with work mates, he felt numb. He fell down onto his couch and watched the first bland game show until the sun had fully disappeared. In the dark of that room, as he watched a family celebrate winning some grand prize, he broke down and cried. All those emotions came rushing back at once. The discontent with his life choices, the dull ache of dissatisfaction, and the fear of falling back into his previous life all washed over him in waves again and again as his mind was a flurry of memories as it tried to make sense of the chaos. Finally, after a miserable hour of unrelenting emotion, he began to calm down. His memories drifted back to being a child, when he and Alison would imagine an adventure to go on as they ran around their living room. He remembered dinners with his parents, laughing and teasing each other for hours on end. And he remembered being with Julia as they walked the canals of Cascadia, too broke to do anything else that night and not caring at all. All of that had made him so happy, and yet he had pushed that to the side because of how sure he was that getting rid of a tight budget would make him far happier than any of those were. This being wrong was a revelation to him, and he decided then and there that he needed two things: he needed to make real friends, and he needed to find something he could be at least passionate about, regardless of money. The only issue stopping him was that he did not know what his passions were. He spent so many years focused on what would allow him to be successful that he had not really stopped to search for anything that gave him that spark. Even his few extracurricular activities had been more for filling his applications or otherwise making himself look better. With this, he had no real idea where to start.

That weekend was spent pouring over the internet, trying to see what was out there for him. His mind quickly was overflowing with possibilities. There were so many options, so many locations that he had never been to or events he had never considered. His tunnel vision in his youth had made him settle for the first offer he found good, but now he could see so much. The opportunities were endless and overwhelming to him. A giddiness enveloped him as he continued looking on. Until the work week began. The shock of being back in those walls after such a transformative time jarred him. The lack of purpose was predominant on him that day, and by the end of his shift, he knew without a doubt that his passions would never lie in that building. He had to quit and find something else to do, and he had to do it soon.

When he returned home, he got back online and went searching again, although this time for potential jobs that might give him what he needed. The same lack of passion still clung to him with every click and scroll of the wheel, with no relent in sight. He had nearly given up for the night after hours of uncertainty when he finally saw it. There, in the corner of his screen, was an advertisement for the TIS. Intrigued, he clicked on it and opened it up. As he read about the path, a plan began forming for him. This job would pay him to travel. It likely wouldn't be extremely lucrative, but it would allow him to travel the country and really see what the world offered him. And more importantly, it would give him time to find out who he was and wanted to be.

He signed up for an expedited Pokemon training course the very next day, and began studying for both the license test and the TIS test. He began selling extra items, saving money, and planning ahead for his travels. He stopped staying late for work, and didn’t spend much time out with his work mates anymore, drawing some attention to his changes. He kept brushing them off, giving various excuses as it went on. He could tell they were not accepting his fibs after a while, but eventually they let it be. The silence was welcomed, as being able to finish work quickly and leave helped him bear with the remaining months he had to work. With his newly freed hours, he was able to study more, search for advice on beginning in the TIS or training in general, and ordering the necessary equipment.

A few months later, he finally finished the course and was able to apply for his trainer's license. He made it through the application process and easily passed the written test, getting his license. He went home and applied for the TIS then and there, before sighing and staring at a blank page in front of him. After a few minutes of uncertainty, he steeled his nerves and filled out a letter of resignation for his work. He emailed it in and closed his laptop. Even though he wasn't guaranteed a position in the TIS, he was moving forward towards it with everything in him. And for once, even with the fear and doubt that bubbled down in him, he felt thrilled for the first time in a long, long time.
