WeavileReceived at Level 9Evolved at Level 22
{Personality}Queen respects power. In fact, she lives by it- so much that she does not obey those she deems to be weak. She has always seen herself as an alpha, as she historically has won battles the majority of the time, but when she loses, she gets temperamental towards others. She views Bailey as just another human who does not know the true meaning of power, so she will not obey her commands until such a time as Bailey earns her respect.
Currently, she has a reluctant partnership with Bailey- she acknowledges that Bailey uses innovative strategies and quick thinking in battle, but still knows that her trainer has a lot to learn. Occasionally, she's willing to be groomed with a brush, but it's not like she likes it or anything! The Weavile just likes being clean.
{Strategy}Bailey's strategy for utilizing Queen on field is largely based around quick, powerful striking attacks, and not letting foes land hits. She tends to use Embargo, Taunt, and Agility very frequently. Icy Wind is another favorite, because it can make foes slower. Queen's most used move on the battlefield is Metal Claw. It was the third battle of the tournament, and I miraculously hadn't lost yet. With each win, however, my anxiety peaked. More and more people were watching. I didn't want to do this in front of other people- my style was more back alleys or abandoned buildings. I inhaled sharply. I was in the forested arena again. I could work with this. Queen stood near my side, often running ahead but occasionally looking back to make sure I was following. I was one minute late- I had stayed behind in the bathroom for a second to wash my face of sweat. "Come on, girl," I said eventually, voice cracking. "Let's give 'em some hell, yeah?"
We stepped out into the arena to find out that the foe was already there. The announcer called my name, and I looked forward. He was tall, dark, and intimidating. I swallowed. The Weavile bounded forward, standing about a meter or two in front of me. Her muscles were tense and her fur standing on edge. Inhale. Exhale.
A deafening buzzer sounded, and for once I wasted no time in calling out the first move.
"Come on, use Taunt!" A smokey aura drifted from the ice type's form. She snarled as she did so, making a clear challenge to the much larger pokemon. I hoped we weren't making a mistake... "Hone Claws!" A pause. We hadn't worked on that move too much, but eventually the smokey aura gathered by Taunt burst away, replaced by a jagged glow. I exhaled. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. "Stay on your feet," I whispered, but it was more to myself than my partner. I didn't know what moves the strange pokemon a ways away knew, so I figured it'd be best to even the playing field- no status moves could be used for a while, turning this into a contest of strength instead. As long as the foe wasn't a fighting type or something like that, we'd be fine.
Queen used Taunt- turn 1 of 3! Queen used Hone Claws. Accuracy increased, effective Attack stat is now 207. Queen is waiting for Silvally to make the next move.

Josh studied the field as he approached the designated area. The terrain wasn't the rocky crags again, but it wasn't a nice open field either. Trees and shrubs stood abnormally still in the controlled air of the arena, serving to highlight how artificial the thing was, despite the best attempts to make it look completely natural.
His opponent seemed to be a young boy. Until she opened her mouth, then it seemed he was fighting a young girl.
Her Pokemon fidgeted with a nervous energy as it appeared. Watching it, Josh found himself revising that appraisal. It wasn't nervous, it was eager. There was a hunger in its eyes, and it seemed ready to commit violence. The combination of the two was eyebrow raising to say the least.
He tossed the green Pokeball out, revealing the large form of Cavaliero. The Silvally shook its head, mane of hair shifting. It studied the opponent, then dropped down into a playful stance. The fin on its tail wiggled with playful energy as Cavaliero pawed at the soft, loamy soil.
The girl and her Pokemon reacted before Josh could, sending out a pulse of black smokey aura. Cavaliero's eyes narrowed and it responded with a growl of its own. The green chitinous claws pierced the ground as the Pokemon tensed up.
"Cavaliero, use Icy Wind!" Josh ordered. Using Taunt had locked out several of his preferred starts to the battle, but if he couldn't battle defensively, he'd just have to be offensively defensive.
"Barooo!" Cavaliero pointed its mouth upward and let out a long howl. The sound of it took on an almost ethereal quality as it echoed. Air stirred around the large quadruped, spiraling with blue energy as it flowed across the battlefield. The last traces of the smokey aura were blown away as leaves and blades of grass were frozen stiff. Since there wasn't much humidity in the arena, a noticeable lack of ice built up in the area of the attack, but several plants shattered regardless.
"Now, follow up with Rage!" Josh ordered, pointing though it wasn't like Cavaliero needed to be directed. The fighting type Pokemon bounded across the field, rearing up as it neared the opponent, which seemed to be ramping up Aura of its own. Cavaliero came crashing down, its attack somewhere between a tackle and a headbutt as it lashed out with frantic energy. Puffs of misty vapor appeared every time it took a breath, leaving a scattering of shimmering ice falling around the combatants as Cavaliero thrashed about.
Josh smiled to himself. It would be interesting to see if his opponent tried to rush the attack or play the long game.
Cavaliero used Icy Wind! Cavaliero used Rage!

A chill wind rapidly made its way across the field, rapidly freezing the blades of grass and dewdrops it crossed. It made contact with the dark type, who inadvertently shielded me from most of the blow. She tilted her head and shivered violently. She was an ice type herself, and was generally better with aura based attacks than physical ones. It'd require a more tenacious offense to take her down... Almost immediately after the thought, the strange dog- a steel type, maybe? Came bounding across the field. A pause. "Queen, use Quick Attack to dodge!" The cat's haunches raised momentarily before she blurred across the field, stopping several meters to the left of the foe. A medium-sized pine tree was to the front and side of the dark type, and a thought came to mind. "Use Metal Claw and knock down that tree!" Queen let out a caterwaul and made one clean, diagonal slice across the wooden fixture. It came tumbling down with an audible crash, but noticeably missed the opponent. No, my intention was for the foliage to block the much bigger pokemon's line of sight.
I needed to either tire out the foe, or delay the battle a bit to get a better idea of its capabilities. Hopefully the Weavile's Pressure ability would be in effect right now, but it was impossible to tell- I had no clue what moves the dog was capable of, and it was tricky to tell what moves were being used over the roar of the crowd.
Inhale. Exhale. I just needed to survive this one battle. I could do that, right? My confidence diminished with each minute I spent on the field. Surely my family back in Tiensee would be seeing me up here as I was willfully ignoring their attempts to communicate... I swallowed. Just focus on the present...
Weavile is exerting her Pressure! Weavile was hit by Icy Wind. It's not very effective... (Effective speed: 84) Weavile used Quick Attack to dodge! Weavile used Metal Claw to knock down a tree, obscuring Silvally's line of sight!
Taunt- turn 2 of 3!

Cavaliero was still panting as its foe vanished. It looked around, only tilting its head at the falling tree. The large plant, Josh guessed it might be an oak, though he wasn't educated enough to tell, crashed with a mighty bang. Leaves scattered around the impact sight, some rolling across the ground before coming to a rest. A small torus of dust rising up before thinning out.
Cavaliero sniffed at the tree, investigating it as if there might be a treat hidden among the branches. Josh frowned, trying to figure out just what the girl was doing.
"Cavaliero, use Aerial Ace!" Josh ordered.
Cavaliero jumped atop the tree, looking around. When it spotted its prey, it howled. Air currents whipped up around the Pokemon. It dashed forward as it leaped over the small black cat Pokemon and struck with savage claws, aiming to hit it from behind. The air continued to whirl around Cavaliero as it followed up, chasing after its opponent with more lateral slices from its chitinous claws.
"Back off and use Swords Dance!" Josh shouted as he tried to watch the battle from between the branches of the fallen tree. It helped that Cavaliero stood so tall. Short of running completely into the brush, he wouldn't be able to loose sight of the massive Pokemon. The Weavile however, that was going to be a problem. The black smoke of the cat Pokemon's Taunt had vanished, but he didn't know if that meant its effects had been lifted or not. He couldn't keep chasing it with moves like Rage and hope to score some boosts that way. Cavaliero wouldn't be able to keep up with something that quick forever.
Sharp lines of aura rotated around Cavaliero. The Silvally jumped from side to side, its Aura ramping up visibly. It howled, the sound ringing through the arena. Claws bit into soft loamy soil as it looked down its snout, seeking the opponent.
Notes: Effective attack is 180

The foe's Aerial Ace raked its claws against Queen's torso, causing her to let out a violent caterwaul. When it backed off an used Swords Dance, I found myself clenching my fists tightly, as if the intensity of my grasp could somehow boost my chances. I eyed the icy terrain. I had something of an idea, but if it didn't work, I'd basically be throwing away the battle. "Queen, get under him with Poison Jab!" The cat easily leapt over the tree before coming towards the side of the strange dog pokemon. At the last moment, she ducked to the side, sliding on the created ice as her paw seemed to drip with a viscous liquid. She quickly jabbed it skywards into the opponent's belly before coming out near his flank. "Assurance!" the dark type move wasn't that strong on its own, but it was strengthened if its target had already been damaged, so I was hoping it'd at least do something. I had to end the battle quickly before the dog could land more than a hit or two...
Shadows wrapped around her paw before she slammed her claws into the strange pokemon's thigh. It didn't seem to do as much as I had hoped, however- shit, was it a fighting type? Steel was neutral against dark, if I recalled correctly... And it would explain the orange coloring. "Queen, get out of there and use your berry!" the cat sprinted out of dodge, berry pouch around her neck seeming to glow as it was activated. She was already looking a little beat up, and if the foe really was a supereffective type then she needed to be as healthy as possible to survive the upcoming attacks. After a couple seconds, the pouch sagged downwards. It was empty. I exhaled slowly. Hopefully this battle would end soon...
Queen slid under Silvally and used Poison Jab on its belly! Queen used Assurance- double power! (Effective power 120) Queen used her Figy berry. She's looking pretty healthy.

The girl seemed to be tensing up with the fight, which Josh didn't blame her for. The battle was turning savage, with the Pokemon swiping at each other with claws and glowing strikes. The cat screeched as it took the strike from Cavaliero's Aerial Ace, bounding back to avoid strikes. It glared at both Josh and his Pokemon, managing to seem menacing despite being dwarfed by the Silvally.
The Weavile jumped atop the tree, showing its finesse as it leaped around the arena. Josh gritted his teeth as the Pokemon struck at Cavaliero, sliding along the ground and passing under the large Pokemon. He hissed through the gaps in his teeth. Cavaliero staggered and Josh held out a hand as if that might help.
"Cavaliero, Icy Wind!" Josh shouted. Cavaliero howled, the wind whipping up as the Weavile turned to strike again. Shards of frozen plant material shattered in the random gust, sending glittering pieces of material flashing into the bright noon light. A noticeable layer of frost started to thicken on the already frozen ground cover.
Josh felt the pressure of the situation closing in on him. He pointed at the Weavile. "Cavaliero, use Multi Attack! Don't let it get a hit in!"
Cavalerio's howl filled the arena. A massive orb of Aura flashed around it, swirling as it straightened, facing the Weavile. The aura collected around its claws, and formed a wall between the two Pokemon as Cavaliero lowered its haunches to leap. The two Pokemon headed for a collision as Cavaliero reached out with a claw, striking low before leading into a follow up attack that was little more than a full bodied tackle with the ramped up Aura. The sheer force of it shattered nearby plants as Cavaliero's claws dug out great gouges in the earth. As smoke and steam filled the arena, Josh narrowed his eyes to see the result of the combat.
