Welcome To
“There was once a village called Baile in this harbor. Three times a year, ships would stop and trade for produce and wool. Once a year, after the harvest, my father would take me across the mountains to buy things we needed. Things have changed in old Baile. Cottar hill still overlooks the village, but livestock do not dot its grassy slope. The old buildings are gone, replaced with steel and concrete. You can do trade there any time of the year now, but they do not want what we have.
It is not all bad, though. The village’s buildings may have changed, but old friends still live there. It may be busier, but it is still Baile.”
A small town by modern society standards, Port Baile is the largest settlement on Calta. A blend of old Caltan buildings and modern prefabrications, the town feels torn between the two major influences on it. This rift runs deep, as the newcomers butt heads with the original inhabitants. Cottar Hill, once a defining feature of the landscape is slowly being deformed by the construction of a lighthouse and weather monitoring station. Godain military walk the streets in uniforms, and the society of the town has become striated. The Rises, home to the new arrivals block the view of Mara O’Blan with towering manor homes.
Recent conflict has centered around the few remaining Wooloo on the hills around the town. Godain tourists have taken to capturing the animals belonging to the locals, leaving the few remaining herds too thin for harvest.
Port Baile is the only place on Calta to purchase supplies, but expect to pay extra for the convenience. Those who wish to see the Pokemon native to this land but unwilling to travel inland can visit the Duke’s Garden where many species are put on display. For those brave, adventurous souls, Duke Le’Mont might even be willing to pay a bounty for yet undiscovered Pokemon to put in his menagerie.
