Trainer Profile
Character Name: Orion D'Aramitz
Nickname: 'Rion
Gender: Male
Age: 36
Trainer Class: Business Man
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 228
Hair Color & Style: Orion cuts his light brown hair short, in a crew cut, and rarely styles it other than just running gel through it, so it usually just lays flat.
Eyes: Orion has large, rounded eyes, which are colored a stormy-grey that grows darker in low light. His eyebrows are small and thin, often disappearing beneath his bangs. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, but not in Orion's case. He hides his emotions in the stiffness of his movements and in the tightening of his muscles, but his eyes stay cold unless he's talking to a child, to which they turn warm and gentle.
Clothing/Accessories: In the office, Orion wears his blue business suit, all year-round. But out of the office, Orion typically wears either a button-up shirt -in the warmer months- or a longer-sleeved shirt in the winter months. Unless it is extremely hot in the summer months, Orion will wear his khaki pants or blue jeans, year-round. If it does get extremely hot, he will wear jersey shorts. The colors and styles vary, but he typically sticks to reds, blues, and greens.
Orion is never seen without his signature scarf. His scarf, a deep green, knitted fabric, was given to him by his fraternal grandmother, and he keeps it on him at all times to remind him of her.
He typically wears sneakers or tennis shoes, usually colored grey or black. He always carries his holocaster, which is a very important tool for his job, and is often seen with his nose buried into the tech while he walks. If he isn’t holding it, it is in his belt-bag, which he carries around his waist.
General Appearance: Orion typically has a well-groomed appearance. Nearing his forties, he does have some visible smile lines on his face, though they are pretty faint as of yet. He isn’t one to always be smiling, but children are guaranteed to bring one out on his face. Orion isn’t the type to make a big scene of his body language, and this is most evident in his smooth, pointed movements -they can seem almost scripted with how precise they are. There is no flapping of the arms or hands when he talks, or much movement during his strides. He is tall, with thick muscles that ripple under his skin as he moves, making him the envy of many a woman, but unluckily for them he’s uninterested.
Hometown: Union, Central Godai
Personality: Orion is generally a friendly sort of fellow, but in the workplace he is a serious and stern person rather than the friendly sort he is when he is volunteering or just out in the community. He sees the workplace as a time for work only and no play, and he has a hard time figuring out how to calm this side of him while he is at work, because he is surrounded by rich people whom he distastes just on principle. Meanwhile when he is out volunteering or in the community he is a friendlier fellow just because he's not faced with the constant flouting of money and general attitude of rich people, instead he feels obligated to be friendly to those less fortunate than him because they have hardships that he can't even begin to imagine.
Orion takes his work, whatever it is, very seriously. He always follows through with the expectations set for him by his superiors, be it boss, manager, or teacher. He rarely finds time for himself, but he likes it that way. He prefers to be busy doing something productive, rather than wasting time at home. Being productive is equal to being a quality person, in Orion's opinion. He greatly admired his grandparents and parents for their hard work in raising their companies in Godai from the ground up, and holds high disdain for his siblings, with their 'rich-kid' attitudes and beliefs that only 'lesser' humans do hard-work to earn money.
Orion is an honest man, sometimes to a fault. He doesn't believe in sugarcoating the truth to make it easier to swallow, and he absolutely despises any kind of deceit. While being honest can be admirable, it also tends to get him in trouble when he steps on anyone’s feet, figuratively speaking. This harkens back to his childhood, wherein his siblings readily told lies simply to get Orion into trouble with their parents. Orion developed a deep-seated hatred for all things deceit, and finds it difficult to even tell 'comforting' lies.
Orion has a temper that rivals a volcano. He gets frustrated with the little things and unfortunately lets pretty much anything get to him. When he is being taunted or lied to he gets very angry and will start yelling at the top of his voice, and when his computer doesn't work at the office, he throws a temper tantrum and starts banging on it to get it to work for him. When people make mistakes in the office he will remain angry with them for days or weeks at a time.
Despite this, he is very apologetic about his temper, especially after he's yelled at someone. He feels bad that he gets frustrated so easily and doesn't like that he doesn't reign in his temper well. He doesn't like that he gets mean when he's angry and he doesn't like the fact that his family has had to have an intervention even and send him to Anger Management classes. The classes helped a little but he still finds himself getting angry at the little things.
He typically dislikes all of his parents' rich friends' parties and all the high-society stuff that his siblings just adore and make fun of how he avoids them. Orion is quick to judge rich people, more than poor people, because he has this idea in his head that all rich people are arrogant jerks who only care about money and being popular.
Orion also highly dislikes arrogant people, and definitely people who think that they are above the law. He holds high disdain for anyone who thinks that just because they are rich, or famous, they are better than other people. This goes back to his rough childhood with his older brother and younger sister always ordering him around and getting him into trouble with lies, just because they thought he wasn’t good enough to be a part of their rich family.
Orion views himself as a person who tries to do the right thing in any given situation. He knows that he messes up sometimes, and he takes responsibility for those mistakes. He often thinks of himself as a public servant, above all other things, and when he fails at thinking about other people before himself, he can be too hard on himself about it. He is also aware of his tendency to be too bluntly honest about things, and understands that it's not always the correct action to take at a given time, but he has a very hard time breaking himself from it, given his hatred for lies and deceit.
He does a lot of volunteer work in the community, working for the Godai equivalent of Habitat for Humanity, and serving homeless people at food pantries. He always feels like a good person after doing these things, and his views of himself as a public servant help him remain humble while doing so.
History:
Family History
Orion’s fraternal grandmother and grandfather, Meissa and Ophiuchus respectively, moved to Godai from Beliae in the year 153, at 30 and 33 years old, with their two sons and daughter: Corvus, 7; Saiph, 5; and Bellatrix, 4. They moved to Godai in hopes of taking the family wine business to a new country. They started out their vineyards just outside of what was then known as Herbalife City -later Kotoba. They soon were able to make a good business as people enjoyed their wines, and they became rich from their own work, rather than from Ophiuchus’ family vineyards in Beliae.
They soon became familiar with another well-off family, the Tsosie’s. The Tsosie’s were Native Godians, tracing their ancestry to before the Unification of Godai and the native tribes of Godai. Aster Tsosie had inherited a run-down ranch from his great uncle upon his death, and he and his wife, Camellia, began a dairy farm at the ranch, eventually developing it into a successful dairy business, particularly focused on cheeses. Upon the D’Aramitz’s arrival in Godai, the Tsosie’s had two daughters: Petunia, 8; and Iris, 5.
The two families hit it off well; their companies complemented each other quite well, and they soon became quick friends, as did their children. After several years of friendship, the two families began making plans to unify their families; they just had to find the right match for their children. At this time, their combined children were in their teens, the eldest being Petunia at age 17, almost ready to leave the house, and the youngest being Bellatrix, at age 13. While the children were all great friends, only Saiph and Iris seemed romantically interested in each other.
The two children were told of their families’ plans to unite the families to maximize profits, and they agreed. Six years later, Saiph and Iris, both 20, married and joined their families under the name of D’Aramitz. At 23, they had their first child: Thuban Narcissus D’Armatiz, on April 30th. At 25, they had their second son: Orion Hyacinth D’Aramitz, on November 3rd. At 29, they had their only daughter: Rosemary Andromeda D’Aramitz, on August 25th.
History
Orion was born in Kotoba City, East Godai, then known as Herbalife. His first few years of life were spent at the D’Aramitz Manor that was built just outside of the D’Aramitz Vineyards. During his younger years, Orion had a ‘good’ relationship with his elder brother, Thuban. Thuban never treated Orion like an equal, always looking down on Orion as lesser, and would order Orion around. At a young age, Orion was OK with this simply because he didn’t know better; he merely admired his brother and wanted his brother to be happy with him. He didn't have a lot of friends of his own, mostly just his cousins, whom he saw at family gatherings.
While living at the D’Aramitz Manor, Orion didn’t see much of his mother, as she was constantly out of town, taking care of the Tsosie Cheese business. It became such a strain for the family relationships that when Orion was four, the family of four moved to Union, so that his parents could run the business end of the two family businesses, while the other relatives stuck to the actual production of goods in the vineyards and farms.
Soon after moving to Union, Orion’s parents had another child: a girl they named Rosemary Andromeda. She was their darling, their baby. Orion was now not only shadowed by his older brother, but also his younger sister. As he continued to grow up, and began going to school in the city, he began to resent his brother for treating him like trash. He had finally developed some friendships outside the family, with a couple of boys that went to the same school as him: Patrick LeGains, and Brian Thompson.
He no longer listened to his brother when Thuban would order him around, and Thuban would get angry. They would get into fights, though Thuban would never lower himself to ‘fighting like a lowly street-rat’. Instead, Thuban would pretend to cry and Orion would get in trouble for hurting his brother. Thuban began telling lies about Orion whenever he could, to get the younger boy in trouble with his parents. This caused a lot of frustration and anger in the young Orion. He complained about it to his friends and they told him to 'tell on' Thuban to his parents.
So, Orion did protest and tell his parents that Thuban was lying to them, but his parents chose not to believe Orion in favor of Thuban’s version of the story. It didn’t help that Thuban would act innocent in front of them while sneakily doing something to anger Orion, causing outbursts from his younger brother, only cementing his parents’ opinion. This frustrated Orion to no end, causing him to hate lies in the future.
Orion found himself turning from his family to other people in his desperation to be noticed as someone more than just a troublemaker. He spent more and more time with his friends outside the home instead of staying at home with his family. He found that he fit in with the smart kids, the so-called 'nerds.' He felt like hard work and being smart was a better alternative to staying dumb and just punching his brother out.
And while Thuban was abusive towards his younger brother, he doted upon his younger sister. This, along with the favor of her parents, led Rosemary to develop the same attitude Thuban had. She believed she was better than other people, especially Orion. She, at the young age of four, began to act the same way as Thuban, ordering around Orion, and when he would refuse to do something, she would throw a fit and lie about Orion to their parents. By that time, Orion had already learned that trying to tell his parents that his siblings were lying only increased his own punishment, so he didn’t even try any more. He was tired of fighting something that seemed inevitable, and learned eventually to ignore his siblings.
The actions of his siblings made Orion feel unwanted in his family, and increased his resentment towards them. He hated rich people and arrogant people who cared only about themselves. He became determined to stand out from his siblings, and prove to them that merely because someone worked hard for something, didn’t make them less of a human being. He threw himself fervently into his school work, desperate to prove himself worthy of something more than a kid from a rich family.
He captured the notice of one of the prettier and smarter girls in school at the time, and they became good friends. Her name was Jessica Young, and Thuban hated Orion for capturing the attention of this girl. He would tease Orion in front of Jessica all the time, and would try to show off in front of the girl,
In the years to follow, Orion and his siblings would occasionally spend time at the D’Aramitz Manor or the Tsosie Ranch, particularly around the holidays. Both families believed heavily in Arceism, and Orion and his siblings were raised as such. His family were so strict in their Arceism, that Orion was forbidden from calling Ortusmas the commercialized name of ‘Delimas’, and his family did not raise their children to believe in Deliclaus. Similarly, during Renovamen, his family did not condone the hiding and seeking of eggs, believing the tradition to be taking away from the true meaning of Renovamen.
Though his relationship with his siblings and parents were strained, Orion was very close to his fraternal grandmother, Meissa. She taught him to speak Beliaen at a young age, and whenever Orion and his family were visiting, she would tell him stories of Beliae, and teach him of the Beliaen culture. Orion developed a great love and respect for his grandmother, and she would tell him that he was her favorite grandchild. His grandmother included his friends in her doting on Orion, baking them cookies and teaching them Beliaen as well.
Due to his great respect and love for his grandmother, Orion began to question the patriarchal teachings of Arceism. As time went by, the more he respected his grandmother and the less he subscribed to the patriarchal views of the church. Eventually, he decided that he didn't want to believe in Arceism anymore, and just believed the old stories about the Legendaries that his grandmother would tell him. He believed that Arceus still came down to save the world, but that Arceus meant for all people to be equal, just as the Legendaries were equal in power to each other, so were people to each other and so he would treat everyone the same.
This caused his parents to disapprove of him even more, but they started to realize that they would lose their middle son if they didn't do something soon. So one day, they took just Orion on vacation with them and left Thuban and Rosemary behind. It was meant as a parent-son bonding experience, and during that vacation, Orion poured out his frustrations to his parents. He told them about Thuban and Rosemary's lies and deceit and for once, his parents saw him for who he really was. He told them about how he felt abandoned by them and how it affected him still; even as he had long accepted the treatment he received.
After that vacation, Orion had a better relationship with his parents. Thuban and Rosemary started getting in trouble for their lies and things were more fair around the house, though Orion still felt like Thuban and Rosemary were closer to his parents than he was. Orion felt closer to his grandmother than to his own parents.
Orion admired his grandmother very much for how she and his grandfather had worked hard to build and sustain the companies their families had started, and took lessons from his grandmother in how to be a good businessman. After Elementary and Secondary school, he decided to get a business degree and become part of the family business, but unlike Thuban and Rosemary, decided to start from a lowly assistant and work his way up the chain himself to see how each chain of the branch worked.
So Orion went to college for business and worked his way up the chain of the wine company, and now he is the Manager of Transportation for the entire company, needing to make sure all the grapes and wine and seeds and everything that needed to get places in the wine company got to their destinations on time. Thuban and Rosemary kicked up a fuss when he got the job, but his parents were wise to their antics by then, and ignored their whining. His parents were proud of him for everything that he had done, for once in his life, and Orion was glad he had decided to do what he did.
He developed relationships in college, and even had a girlfriend or two, but he was never with a girl for long; Orion had a self-esteem issue where he didn't feelt like people liked him for him. He felt this way because of the way Thuban and Rosemary had always treated him. He had poor self-esteem and had trouble believing in himself. The only thing that he felt he had earned was the Business Degree that he had worked so hard for. Being part of his grandparents' businesses had him believing in his ability to maintain a job.
He never had time for pokemon really, but recently his parents told him to take a vacation for how hard he’s been working and gave him a shiny Salandit female for his birthday and told him to go bond with her, so that’s what he’s doing - taking a “vacation.” We'll see how long that lasts.
