{Salem Reed} HoundourReceived at Level 5
Grrr... This little guy seems angry! This little Houndour is mad at the world, it seems. He has learned that the world isn't always kind, and that the strong will triumph by any means necessary. Foul play and power go hand in hand and as long as the human has power he'll live with being owned.

The noise of the crowd swelled to life from a weighty rumble to a mighty roar as they burst into cheers for their respective favorites from the opening ceremonies. Some had been waiting eagerly to see how one distinctive trainer would preform, others had seen Luther in his first round and come to this arena particularly to see another. The trainer that rode around constantly on the back of an onix had certainly made an impression, any potential prior celebrity status notwithstanding.
The announcer had introduced both the contestants at the same time allowing them to both enter the basic arena however they chose, and once again Luther rode in standing on the crown of his onix, Sunder. The rock snake bellowed a resonant cry towards the heavens as it entered from the tunnel, having been encouraged to show a little more flair this time around. Luther still wasn't comfortable in front of all these people in the center of a giant crowd; but he'd made it through one battle already, where his mind had been taken off the distractions, leaving him to focus on the battle. He was a little more confident this time, that the same thing would happen.
As Sunder approached the trainer's box, Luther guided him to lower his head and stepped off of it into the trainers box before patting his gentle giant on the head. He nodded to his opponent across the field, knowing any other kind of greeting would be swallowed up in the noise of the stadium. Instead he gave Sunder an encouraging pat and the segmented stony serpent crawled forward into the combatant's field.
The audience exploded, having been teased with the prospect of seeing one of nature's most powerful pokémon in action since the opening ceremonies. A lot of the people cheering on Luther's behalf were more a fan of his onix than the man who rode it.
Not to be left without a friend to help him keep his composure, Luther reached up seemingly to adjust his collar, but in reality it was to give a reassuring scratch to the tiny yellow bug hiding inside his coat near his neck.
Backpacker Luther sent out Onix!

One they had walked off the opening ceremony, Salem's mood plummeted once more into annoyance and disinterest. Sitting in the waiting room for his first match the blond had glared at every one and everything that walked too close to him. He was pretty sure one of the people who came to him had something to say before he looked away from his lap. They scurried away the minute their eyes locked though, and Salem huffed and went back to ignoring everyone around him.
A yap from hound caught his attention as well as his name being called. Of course Arbor had put his actual name out there, the asshole. He stood from his bench and motioned for Sinne to follow behind him as he left the waiting room and moved toward the field. Shielding his eyes from the intense light, he stood in the box as instructed prior and let small hound do whatever he wanted. He scoffed at his opponents Pokémon, paying little attention to the trainer himself. A mountain of a snake, surely they didn't think this would end well for the blond.
He had no choice but to try anyway, he doubted Arbor wasn't watching - and if he did manage to win he would be a step closer to beating him. A smile of pure malice followed - beating Arbor in a fistfight hadn't worked, but if he could beat him another way? All the more reason to take this seriously. With the loud blare of the bell, an announcer told them to begin and Salem wasted no time. That hunk of rock couldn't be too fast, so the chance was there and he was taking it. "Sinne, follow a howl with leer!"
Sinne was quick to put on his game face, a loud pronounced howl slipping past his muzzle. He put a snarl on his lips and growled lowly at the rock bodied snake. Without a doubt he would try to win, but there was no doubt that winning was a small possibility.
Salem sent out Sinne! Sinne used howl (Attack increased one stage) Sinne used Leer.

Luther wasn't sure how but he had a feeling with the intense look on his rival's face that they somehow knew his Onix's secret. That the giant stone snake was actually an extremely timid and timorous creature. He hadn't been sure what they had been thinking when they arrived, after all there had to be better choices to face Sunder than the fire type canine that dutifully trotted onto the field. However amidst his bewilderment, alarm bells had started to ring in Luther's head. There had to be more to their plan.
Once the match started it was obvious. They were bold in the face of all that was stacked against them, and showed no fear as they commanded their houndour to take to the fight immediately. What was more the speed at which the black dog could call on his aura and maneuver it into an assault on Sunder's senses was blinding in comparison to the slow crawl of the rock snake.
The piercing eerie howl made Luther's skin crawl with its haunting sound. He'd heard that call on moonless nights out in the wilds and been afraid for his life before, but it was altogether unfamiliar to Sunder who had no canines native to his habitat in the Marook caves. Still something primal in that sound implied danger.
The glare that followed was far more universal gesture. Sunder knew what it meant and recoiled much more visibly as his own confidence in his ability to fight was sapped from him. Luther could almost feel how badly Sunder wanted to run away, and he identified with that feeling as he stood under the gaze of these thousands of people. He did his best to gather himself and press forwards.
“Sunder, use Screech!” Luther commanded. Sunder listened, tilting his head back the mighty serpent inhaled deeply before letting loose an earsplitting cry that sounded like nails on a blackboard. Luther even had to cover his ears and grit his teeth to get through the horrible noise.
Sunder is hit by Leer. His defense falls. Sunder used Screech.
