Amadour Port
As you approach Amadour Port, which used to be known as Vertosheer Town, chances are that you will see a fairly average coastal town. There are many fisheries and houses get more expensive as you get closer to the cliffs that offer amazing views of the Crescent Bay and the ocean beyond. Walking up to the cliffs is daunting, until you look down, then it is amazing. There is a city built onto the cliffs by the ocean. This is called "Old Amadour" named after the order of Arcean monks who traveled here from Beliae hundreds of years ago. They saw the sheer cliffs and decided to build a life there. They Believed that Arceus compelled this mission and by some divine grace they did succeed in building a viable community there.
As time moved forward, more people settled and expanded on the cliffs, but the "less inspired" also built homes on the flat lands above the cliff face, and began expanding northward. Forests were cleared and a community thrived, while many still maintained the older city, which began to attract thrill seekers and history buffs more than missionaries. The Original Amadourian Church is still standing, a structure built entirely out of stone and extends deep into the cliff with many means of access.
These days the city flourishes on fishing and international shipping. The City on the cliff is considered quaint and fun for tourists, but inhabitants nearly all live on the flatland. The stone walkways have been weatherproofed and now come with guard rails, ramps, and even elevators. It stands as a reminder of the old ways and the power of human ingenuity with powerful motivation.
