Credits to SeiuchiblargPOST THREE: Ratios.
This post is designed to show the most popular Types of Pokemon, and the most popular generations of Pokemon. However, there is a small problem with just saying "The type that's been picked the most is most popular!" Some types have many, many more options available than others. Water types, for example, were chosen forty-two times, and Fire-types were only chosen forty times. That might make you think that a water-type Starter is more likely to be a more popular choice. However, there are actually twenty-two different water-type Starters to choose from, and only 9 Fire-types, which means each fire-type Pokemon must have been chosen many more times, and been much more popular to get such a high number.
So how do we solve this problem? We use a ratio! A ratio shows the number of Pokemon of each type that CAN be chosen, and it ALSO shows the number of pokemon that actually got chosen for each type. For example, Fire-types would show 40:9, and Water would show 42:22. Using those two numbers, we can show a percentage number to show off the popularity of that type! 40 is 444% of 9, for example. The higher the percentage number, the more popular a type is! And that's all there is to it! Pokemon Types |
