Trainer Profile
Character Name: Alexander Tinuos
Nickname: Alec, Zander
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Trainer Class: Camper/Psychic
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 125lbs
Hair Color & Style: Alec's hair is a fiery copper toned red-orange, and it is cut into a long mohawk, with everything else shaved down. His eyebrows are always kept extremely well groomed, and are often thought of as expressive, because his emotions are typically readable through them.
Eyes: Alec's sea-foam green eyes are often described as "little half moons" in shape., though he isn't sure what that means.
Clothing/Accessories: Alec typically wears blue jeans, a light brown, blue, or white short sleeve shirt, and hiking boots, with socks of course. Other than that, he keeps a backpack with his at all times that he stores his camping gear in. During the Winter, and in colder parts of Godai, Alec wears a hoodie that has been insulated with Mareep fur, as well as a sea-foam green beanie for his ears. Alec's backpack is forest green in color, though it has purple straps for his arms. In the windy parts of Godai he wears a dark brown duster coat, and a light brown bandana around his mouth.
General Appearance: Alec's skin is a very bright white color, even though he spends all of his time outside. This is because of his being what is regularly called a "Ginger." He has bright, fiery orange hair, and freckles of the same color covering his nose, and cheeks. He has more scars, and defining marks, than most kids his age, but that is because of his camping life style, not due to being attacked, or abused. Alec has a severe limp in his left leg due to his accident, and is often seen using crutches to get around. Despite his limp, Alec is always moving with what can be described as a "pep" in his step.
Hometown: Tiensee Town, South Godai
Personality: Alec is an extremely happy and outgoing kid. He puts a real effort into being happy, having learned the hard way that for him, optimism and a positive outlook will help things to turn out alright. Depression and futilism got his nowhere, but when Alec worked hard and fought for something he desperately wanted, he came out the other end a better, more accomplished person! And all it took for Alec to do it was the courage to take a chance on himself, and believe that things might turn out okay. Since learning that lesson, Alec has always worked hard not only to improve himself as a trainer and a person, but also to make the people and Pokemon around him feel better, too. Despite this, happiness and optimism are not defining traits of Alec's character so much the pursuit of those things in himself and others could be. Some of the things that can, no matter what, make Alec happy are sea salt ice cream, turkey bacon, and seeing Pokemon he has never seen before. He loves the outdoors, and refuses to sleep inside any building, even during bad weather, unless the people or Pokemon he's with need it.
Most people who deal with Alec would say that he is good at heart, believing every one deserves respect, and kindness, until they prove otherwise. Expanding on that belief, he is wholeheartedly against exploiting Pokemon. This means that he believes they should not be put on "display" in contests, or other such ways. Some are confused by the idea that he holds this belief but still battles with his Pokemon, but Alec doesn't battle for glory or recognition; rather, the act of battling is a way of making his Pokemon stronger and better, and helping to improve the bond he forms with them, too! Battling, for Alec, is a deeply personal way of empowering the relationship he has with his beloved partners. He is a firm believer in "living the way nature intended," which is why he tries to befriend his Pokemon before using a Pokeball to capture them.
Kindly and good-natured though he may be, Alec is very protective of his worldview, which attempts to assume the best in everyone and believe things will turn out alright. Alec's response to this worldview being threatened is a true display of his character. When it is threatened, such as when Pokemon are abused or Alec himself is bullied or made fun of (especially for his limp,) or even when Alec finds himself trapped in a hard situation where he can't escape, his temper flares and he begins to act up, sometimes even violently. Alec takes no pride in it, but he is exceptionally good at finding the small weaknesses in a person's emotional armor, and can exploit them to hurt people with a few rash words should his temper escape his control. On rare occasions, Alec has been known to explode with physical violence. When this happens, he usually sobers quickly thereafter, and attempts to make amends. The only thing more frightening to Alec that his worldview being threatened is being the person to threaten it. He also fears riding bikes, being in deep water, and dragon Pokemon, and doesn't deal well with the threat of losing the use of his legs again.
Alec loves all kinds of Pokemon, though Flying types are his favorite. However, he is afraid of Dragon type Pokemon, and Pokemon resembling spiders. While he does identify as "straight," he is still young, and does not know exactly what he likes in people of either gender. Alec learns best by watching examples and trying to imitate results, which can make the process difficult because of how his lifestyle often keeps his from other people to present learning opportunities. Failing that, Alec practices persistently, and tries hard until he succeeds.
Being a Telepath scares Alec, because he is scared of losing control, and of being called a freak by those he holds close to his heart. Because losing control of his powers scares him so much, he constantly tries to "master" it when ever he is out in the world where no one can see him. The discovery of this power has lead to his taking an increased interest in Psychic, and Ghost type Pokemon, because he hopes to learn control from training with them.
Alexander Tinuos was born in a small town known as Tiensee Town to two loving parents, three older sisters, and four older brothers, all of which were amazing Pokemon trainers in their own right. Growing up he was surrounded by all kinds of Pokemon, which led to his love for them at a very early age. From the time he could walk Alec was interacting with Pokemon, though only those that his family had trained.
Being the youngest of eight children Alec's parent's had always left him in the care of his eldest siblings, not because they did not love him, but because they were busy running a business. While he was never pampered, his siblings made sure that he wanted for nothing when it came to food and clothes. When Alec was with his parents it was always like he was their only child, he knew from a very early age how much his whole family loved him. And though some "babies" of the family often get spoiled, Alec knew that he was not his parent's only child, so he always did his best to show them that he was his own person, but still a cohesive part of their loving family.
When he was old enough to go to school Alec began taking on more responsibilities around his family's house, and got up every morning at four o'clock to make sure every Pokemon was fed. He was taught how to groom every type of Pokemon, how to make the most basic of foods for them, and which types fought better against others. By the time he was old enough to become a trainer he had already mapped out the first leg of his journey, until his accident.
Alec had been doing his chores about a month before he was to get his first Pokemon, when his eldest brother's Shelgon began to evolve right in front of him. Once it had completed it's evolution the brand new Salamence went on a rampage through their yard. While he was trying to calm the angry Pokemon down, it had used it's tail to slam into Alec, and sent him smashing into a near by tree.
Having heard the commotion, Alec's family rushed down to find Alec slumped over at the base of the stump. When he woke up in the hospital he had learned that Salamence's attack had not only broken four ribs, but had also damaged his spine. Alec could not believe it when the doctors told him that he very well may never have walked again, which meant that he would never have gotten to go on his journey.
This news had caused Alec to fall into a very deep depression that quickly threw the rest of his life out of whack. He had tried going to school, but dropped out after a few months, and had refused to tell his parents why. Alec pushed everyone away, his parents, his siblings, even the Pokemon that he had become friends with, he wanted nothing more than to be alone. Alec was unable to stand the looks that he believed people gave him when he was not looking, mostly because it meant that they were pitying him. Once he had dropped out of school Alec stayed in his room for most of the day, though he would often go outside once the moon had shown itself in the sky.
While Alec had been unable to manage going to school, he had asked his parents to home school him. For nigh on a year all Alec did was stay in his room and study. He had finished over two years of school in a little over a year, and his room was lined, floor to ceiling, with books of all kinds. He had not only studied his school work, but had tore through book after book looking for anything that would help him learn to walk again. While the studying kept his mind busy, it did nothing to help his depression. Every time that he had finished a book, and had not learned anything that might help get him out of his wheelchair, his depression seemed to get worse.
He would go days without eating when his books turned up nothing, but, when they did give him something new it was like looking through a window into who he was before the accident. His eldest brothers had often described his mental state as a roller-coaster ride through hell, because as soon as he had seemed to be improving, he would start screaming at everyone, and lock himself up again.
After about two years of being in a wheelchair, Alec had finally begun to make attempts at curing his depression on his own. He began to help with his family's Pokemon again, though he was absolutely terrified of any, and all Dragon type Pokemon. His moods had been improving, but even then he had still refused to go out in public.
Alec had been depressed for a very long time, until his favorite cousin Cody, who was the youngest of his cousins, had returned from his journey. He had heard about his accident and had refused to give up on helping him learn to walk once more. At first Alec tried to push him away, as he had everyone else, but he had quickly learned why he was his favorite out of all of his family members; he was exactly like him, completely stubborn. Cody would not leave Alec alone, until he finally gave up, and let him help him. When Cody first began to help Alec he was unable to even move his toes, but slowly that changed, and when Alec was able to move his legs again Cody used his Venusaur's Vine Whip technique to help support Alec's weight. This went on for two years until Alec was finally able to walk on his own again.
It had been an incredibly long, and hard, two years for Alec. When Cody had first begun to help him, Alec felt that he was only helping him because he pitied him, which stopped him from trying his hardest to get better. Though he would never have admitted it willingly, Alec had given up hope on ever walking again. This lack of hope, and extreme hatred for being pitied, lead to Alec's temper getting much shorter than it had been since his accident. Working with his cousin Cody had caused all of his worst fears to come true, even if it had just been for short periods of time. He was forced to face the fact that there was a very high possibility that he would never walk again for the first time since his accident. Alec had always known that the possibility was there, but Cody had forced him to face it, and to face his fear of being crippled for the rest of his life.
There had been days upon days where the two would do nothing more than scream at each other until they were hoarse, fighting about whether or not it was even worth his effort to try. This, of course, had been Cody's secret way of getting him to take his anger and frustration out on him rather than the rest of their family, but to also convince him to try again. Cody never let Alec rest, not when he had thought that Alec could try harder, or to walk another step.
His anger, and resulting depression, from the rehab had gotten so bad that at one point he had been hospitalized because he had refused to eat anything for two weeks. When this happened, Alec's family had spoke with Cody about giving up on the rehab, saying that pushing him so hard was not helping, and that Alec would just have to come to terms with being in a wheel chair the rest of his life. Though he, nor his parents had known it, being hospitalized had been exactly what Alec had needed, because after that, he was to terrified not to try whatever his cousin had asked him to do.
He began putting every ounce of his being into every tiny thing that Cody asked him to do, even just twitching his toes. Alec had seen what could happen if he gave up, and death terrified him more than any pain, or any fear of never walking again could. He worked with such vigor that his Telekinetic powers had begun to manifest in small ways, though nothing anyone had noticed.
The day Alec had taken his first step on his own was the day his cousin had learned of his powers, though he had decided to keep it to himself. Alec had been so excited that, without even realizing it, he had sent out a wave of energy, a "push" of telekinetic energy if you will, that shattered the windows around him. When all of the glass had fallen, and he was safely in his wheelchair, Alec had asked what happened, and Cody told him than a Yanmega flew around the house. From then on Alec worked to increase the amount of steps he could take daily, until he was tripling them every day.
For a long time Alec was unable to support his own weight completely, and required crutches to help him get around. The first few months had been hard for Alec, because he was still having to rely on everyone's help to get around, but he persevered. He began going out into public again, though only in the early mornings, or late evenings, until he was sure that nobody was paying him any attention. Around the time of his sixteenth birthday Alec was finally able to walk completely on his own, though he still needed crutches from time to time.
Over joyed, Alec began planning his journey once more, and for his sixteenth birthday he was given his very first Pokemon; a Spearow that he named Galestorm. With Galestorm at his side, Alec set off towards Mt. Quemar, his first stop on his journey to become the greatest Pokemon trainer ever. He had been away from home only a few weeks when "it" happened, the thing that would change his life forever. He had been exploring the mountain, practicing rock climbing, when he had come across a wild Bagon. He had been terrified instantly, and fell backwards on to the ground when he tried to run away. The baby dragon Pokemon had been very curious, as he was the very first human that it had seen, and when it got closer to Alec, he screamed a gut wrenching scream that shook him down to his bones. When Alec screamed, he released all of his fear in a powerful telepathic shockwave that threw the poor Pokemon backwards away from him.
After realizing what had happened, Alec did the only thing he could think off, which was run back to town, and call Cody; the only person he trusted to not judge him for the freak he thought hisself to be. After listening to his story over the phone, Cody had took the subway to Tiensee to meet with him, and after doing a few experiments, mainly getting him to move tiny objects around with just his Telepathy, Cody told him not to worry; that all he had to do was practice, and he would be able to control it. But, Cody had been worried about how Alec reacted when he saw the Bagon, and so, before he left to continue his own journey, he left Alec two of his own Pokemon. Cody gave Alec a Wurmple to make him smile, and a Shelmet to defend him against his own fears, as he put it.
With his cousin having just left him days prior, Alec had decided to once more climb Mt. Quemar, and, if possible, find the Bagon that had so terribly scared him.
