Character Name: Alexa Ereignis
Gender: Female
Age: 20 (almost 21)
Trainer Class: Pokemon Healer/Doctor (in-training)
Birthday: June 10, 190
Atrological Signs:
Western Sign: Jeunswill the Twins, Togepi and Cleffa
Eastern Sign: Year of the Arcanine
Allignment: Chaotic Good
Religion: Wiccan (or Godian Equivalent?)
Ethnicity: Godian
Hometown: Cascadia City, North Godai
Height: 5 ft 2 in
Weight: 220 lbs
Hair Color & Style: Alexa wears her long dark brown hair simply, either in a ponytail or simply laying around her face. It isn't curly, thank goodness, for she hates curly hair with a passion, a trait learned from her mother, who has curly hair. Sometimes in the past she has streaked it with a singular blue or green streak for holidays, but usually she keeps her hair its simple beautiful brown.
Eyes: Alexa has deep brown eyes that matches her hair. They are a slender, almond shape, and she has a variety of browns in her eyes, ranging from dark brown around the outside, to a lighter tan circling the iris in a star-like pattern. They shine with an innocence that not many people still have in this world, but she is wiser than her innocent look would suggest.
Clothing/Accessories: Alexa typically wears her favorite color: pink! If she can't find a pink shirt, she'll go with purple or blue, but she generally sticks to pink, as it is her favorite color, and it looks great on her! She wears t-shirts in the summer, but she is usually in jeans or long pants, because she dislikes how her legs look in skirts and shorts. During the winter, she'll wear long sleeved shirts or t-shirts, depending on what's clean, honestly! She always wears her pink winter coat over whatever shirt she is wearing, so it doesn't really show, whatever she ends up wearing. She wears a necklace around her neck now, which contains the ashes of her first pokemon, Chewie.
General Appearance: Alexa is a very happy person! She loves to smile and acts happy most of the time. Upon looking at her for the first time, one's immediate first impression is that she is a hyper person. She is in constant motion, bouncing a leg or clasping her hands together. She is always smiling and playing with her rockruff, Jack. She typically holds herself in a confident, happy manner, as she believes she has a lot to live for and be happy for. She loves to dress up her pokemon along with her, though Jack doesn't always appreciate the outfits that she comes up with.
Personality: Alexa is a person to take at face-value. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and, thus, is rather easy to read. If she is happy -her typical guise- one will know by the beaming smile on her face and the twinkle in her brown eyes. When she is angry or upset, it is easy to read on her face, for her eyes grow dark and her brows furrow, stretching frowning wrinkles across her face. She isn't often unhappy, but when she is, it is obvious for all to read. It is easy to see what she is thinking, thus one can take her at face-value; her being very full of expression and open.
She is friendly, if a little shy when meeting strangers for the first time. This is due to her childhood of sticking her head in a book. She didn't really learn how to interact with her peers, as she was too busy reading to get an active social life. Thus, she isn't the type of person to walk up to a complete stranger and begin a conversation. She generally has to be prodded into a conversation with a stranger, usually by her best friend, Haley.
She is a person to stick out her neck for others when the going gets tough, though. She has her own strict set of morals that she sticks to like superglue, and she won't back down when confronted with another opposing viewpoint. She believes strongly in the final words of the Wiccan Rede: 'An it harm none, do as ye will'. She believes strongly in being kind to everyone, regardless of race, culture, gender, or religion. She cannot understand how anyone can be mean for mean's sake, and it is sometimes a bit of contention between her and her best friend, for Haley has a mean-streak a mile high when crossed.
Even when Alexa is crossed, she is kind on the surface, even if she is boiling beneath. One can tell when she is angry with someone for her frosty glare and clipped tones, as kind as any words she says are. However, she believes in the idea of the Law of Three, another Wiccan belief, in that, whatever energy one puts out into the universe, be it positive or negative, will come back to them by the power of three. To Alexa, this means that whenever she is crossed by someone, that someone has their actions coming back to them, three times as worse as whatever she just endured. This belief allows her to be the bigger person, and let things pass, even if she doesn't like them. She also believes that if she were to act in vengeance, her own actions would come back to her, so it is better to wait for the universe to balance things out rather than act on the universe's behalf, lest she anger the forces she believes governs the world.
Once someone does come to know her, Alexa becomes a hyper person, as she is constantly in excitement about one thing or another. Lately, she has been a little subdued, and for anyone who can see her face, one can tell by the shadow in her eyes that something is troubling her. -Losing both her adored grandfather, affectionately referred to as 'Pa' and her childhood pokemon, Chewie, has brought down her usual happy mood. But she also believes that they have found new life, since she believes in reincarnation.
As a Wiccan, Alexa believes in duotheism, or belief in two gods of equal or comparative power. She believes in the Moon Goddess and the Horned God; each having three forms, each representing the perfect representation of male and female for their followers to strive for. She worships both gods, but has a special connection with the Moon Goddess, in that she strives to be everything that the Moon Goddess is -youthful, wise, and energetic. While she honors both gods in her worship, she reserves certain holidays just for honoring the Moon Goddess.
She tries to do the right thing in her life, believing in the good of healing and thanking the gods for her (mostly) good fortune. She believes in the rites and spells that have been passed down from generation to generation in her mother's family.
History: Alexa was born in Cascadia City to Julie Mitchell and Robert Ereignis. Though they were only married for a short time, it was enough for Alexa to keep her father’s last name instead of her mother’s when they eventually divorced.
Alexa grew up in between the two families, having two birthdays and two Delimas’. Her father loved her, but was emotionally distant, preferring to fill the gaps with high-priced presents and over-the-top birthday celebrations. Alexa grew up wishing for the love of her father, only to receive empty promises and even emptier half-assed gifts. This eventually grew into resentment from Alexa's side toward her father. She eventually stopped hoping for more from her father, giving up on a closer relationship with him.
But while her relationship with her father was strained, her relationship with her mother was wonderful. As a self-proclaimed book nerd, Alexa found it hard to relate to kids her own age, and preferred to stay indoors reading than out playing with others. She developed a great relationship with her mother, instead, her mother becoming her best friend, as they did everything together.
Alexa shared everything with her mother, and often slept in the same bed as her mother just so they could talk way into the night about their days. Her mother was a special-education teacher at a local primary school, and though she had a teacher’s salary, she was wise with her money and how she spent it. Thus, she saved all year and every summer, she and Alexa would go on a vacation, whether to the beach, amusement parks, and, when Alexa got older, cruises.
When Alexa was 5, Julie got her daughter her first pokemon: two twin remoriads and a goldeen. Alexa named the remoriads Rover and Spike, and the goldeen was dubbed Heart. The three fish pokemon were a delight to the young Alexa, who spent most of her days watching them in their aquarium, swimming around and playing with each other. Alexa never allowed her pokemon to fight, however. Whenever her pokemon would come to blows, she would separate them and scold them for "playing rough".
Alexa hated to see pokemon get hurt. She always wanted to make them feel better. The wild bird pokemon and rodent pokemon that lived in their yard often found young Alexa trying to wrap up their wounds with little bandages, and even her stuffed pokemon toys found themselves wrapped in bandages from head-to-foot when Alexa got into a playful mood. She adored taking care of pokemon, big or small.
It was the spring of Alexa's eleventh year when the mother-daughter couple were to receive the newest member of their growing family. While talking to several parents, Julie overheard that a family was moving and couldn't take their lilipup with them to the small apartment they were moving to. Julie immediately offered their home to the puppy. It was in this way that they found their next pokemon: a lilipup named Chewie.
Alexa spent all of her time in school learning as much about pokemon physiology and anatomy as possible. She was inspired by the Pokemon Centers she would take her own pokemon to for check-ups, and decided that she wanted to be a Pokemon Doctor when she grew up. She often spurned making friends just so that she could read another book about pokemon or spend her time volunteering at the closest Pokemon Center.
It wasn't until Alexa was in secondary school that she met her first real friend, a girl named Haley Kephart. Haley lived with her biological dad, while her biological mom lived in Union with her stepfather and their two children. Haley had two half-siblings and four step-siblings on her biological dad's side, and had thus grown up with tons of socialization, yet there was still something strange about her that caused their peers to treat Haley differently. Haley didn't help things along, since she spurned relationships and preferred her books to playing around.
Alexa and Haley had the same bus route together and ended up sitting next to each other. This grew into a strange yet fitting relationship between the two girls. Despite their differences, somehow the two found it within themselves to become the best of friends. They were soon inseparable. Haley loved pokemon just as much as Alexa, though she had yet to have one of her own. Haley's family had a mightyena, Rooney, that belonged to her stepmother's oldest son, and two purrloin named Ozzy and Derek, that belonged to her stepmother's daughter, but Haley had no pokemon of her own.
Alexa and Haley were the best of buddies -they began doing everything together. Haley excelled at school without even trying, which Alexa sometimes found frustrating, as she found it difficult for her to take tests and pay attention in class. It took all her effort to scrape by with Bs and the occasional A, while Haley easily aced all her tests without studying. But Haley didn't hold this over Alexa, instead working with Alexa on study methods they could do together to help Alexa where she needed it.
Alexa wasn't sure how to feel about Haley's easy route through school. On the one hand, it was annoying to see Haley ace tests without studying that Alexa got a B on whilst studying for hours for. On the other, it was nice to have a study-buddy who knew what they were talking about, and it was nice to have a friendship with Haley for other reasons than her academic prowess, too.
About a year after entering secondary school, Alexa's fish pokemon all died, one by one. Despite the doctors' best efforts, it seemed that her fish had all caught the same strain of virus that was resistant to the medicines currently available. Alexa was brokenhearted when her fish pokemon died, but it only renewed her resolve to become a Pokemon Doctor, so that she could research new medications and fight strains of med-resistant viruses and bacteria.
It was about six months after Alexa's fish died when her mother came home with a new pokemon: a rockruff with people issues. The rockruff had been rescued from an abusive home, and now the rockruff hated everyone that wasn't Alexa or her mother. They named the rockruff Jack, and welcomed him into their family, issues or no issues.
Around this time, Haley got her first pokemon: a snivy that she named Severus. Haley decided that she wanted to be a Pokemon Coordinator when she grew up, and Alexa admired that goal, supporting her best friend all the way. She decided that if she couldn't become a Doctor, she might become a Coordinator as well.
Things settled for a while as the two finished secondary school and graduated top of their class. They were both Valedictorian for their secondary school, and though they only really had each other as friends, had plenty of well wishes and money for college given to them at their Graduation Parties. Alexa was proud of her own achievements, proud that she managed to be Valedictorian even with her troubles taking tests and retaining information.
Haley and Alexa talked over their plans for the next few years with each other very seriously. Alexa wanted to go to Central to go to GSUC, while Haley was ready to start her Coordinator career. After talking it over for a while, they decided to part ways for the moment and keep in touch often.
Alexa traveled to Central and began going to Godai State University. She struggled with the classes without Haley's constant support and help, but she managed to make it through her first two years by herself. At the end of the first year, news came that her grandfather, Alexa's father figure growing up, had passed away. She traveled back to Cascadia City for the funeral, singing a song at his funeral. Then, near the end of her second year, she got the news that Chewie, their old lilipup, had contracted a terminal illness and had to be put down. She traveled back to Cascadia City to say goodbye to her first best friend. Her mother and her had Chewie cremated, and each of them carry some of his ashes in a vial around their necks.
These tragedies took their toll on Alexa, dampening her constant cheer, and causing several sobbing bouts that seemed to have no end for the saddened teenager. It got to the point where she believed that she was depressed, and went to see a health care professional about it. She wasn't diagnosed with depression, the professional telling her that it was natural for people to feel sad after such events, and that it would go away eventually. She didn't find this very helpful, but she turned to self-help books, and instead threw herself into her studies even more to distract herself.
It was after the tragedies that Alexa decided she might take a break from classes to view the world. Haley had been traveling for two years and had tons of adventures to share, while Alexa had only classroom misadventures to share. And Alexa had missed much of the last two years of Chewie's life while pursuing her dream. While Jack lived with her in her on-campus apartment, she still felt that Jack deserved more of a life than sitting around waiting for Alexa to finish school.
But, at the same time, she didn't want to take off of college, lest she never get back into it. She dithered for a while on the decision before one of her professors noticed her acting out of sorts and confronted her. She admitted to him what she had been feeling, and he smiled at her. He told her that she could do in-the-field study for a semester and see how that treated her! She would be allowed out into the world to study pokemon on a one-on-one basis, and at the end of the semester, she would be expected to write a research paper detailing all that she had learned.
Alexa, relieved to have another option, talked it over with her mother and, of course, with Haley. Haley was thrilled with the idea and practically invited herself along on Alexa's trip. Alexa didn't mind, though, as having a friend to travel with was not only more fun, but also safer. Alexa's mother was not as thrilled as Haley upon hearing Alexa's proposal, but with several precautionary rules and an agreement to never go anywhere alone (i.e. without Haley), her mother agreed.
Now Alexa is preparing for the trip of a lifetime, to begin in Cascadia City with her best friend! Who knows what sort of wondrous adventures she and Haley will get up to together?
