Welcome to the first patch of Godai 2.0. What is Godai 2.0, you may ask? It represents "The 2nd Generation" of Pokemon Godai. John is gone, and he's mostly passed on the reigns to Bones, Finny, and the rest of us staff who have been promoted in the wake of Drake's retirement. So henceforth, one could deem this "Godai 2.0" (at least on an update level, we'll never be John afterall, the man's a miracle worker).
We are not suddenly changing a thing about how Godai worked before (least that can be seen or felt on the surface beyond the new TAT). You still submit topics, you still get reviewed, and receive EXP and Dian. You still modify your characters. Most to all changes will be what us staff do, and bring to you. That's a hint to the future of Godai.
So what then is patch 2.0.1? This is a patch brought to you exclusively by me, for you all. This is so minor that it deserves a Sub patch (X.X.#), but still more to bring to the site!
Now let's talk what's coming in this update/patch, shall we?
If you've read the CBox throughout the day, I've been speaking of what we've added on. Add-ons to the forum itself. The list is small, but important!
First off, we have a new table button. Located in your topic's buttons next to the alignment and linebreak buttons, the table code is currently experimental and will allow you to produce a table with far greater ease. However, this code requires specific inputs to get just right, so for now consider this simply something to toy with until we can get you exact values for proper tables!
Next up, we introduce something you all wanted, but probably never thought of it: The Word Counter add-on! IN the lower right of any reply/post, you will find a small number that will count up, as long as your post doesn't A: exist in a code bracket; or B: In a Spoiler bracket. That's right folks, now you and us don't need to spend quite as much effort getting a wordcount, the forum will do it for all of us! BOOYAS!
Third up, an image resizer! Got a huge image? No need to spoiler it anymore, because this will automatically shrink any post larger than 500x500 down to that size! Convenience for everyone!
Finally there's the code highlights. When you post a code bracket, a new box will show up! This box will allow you to simply press a button and automatically highlight that code for easy copy-pasting!
Then next up are some more enforcement based add-ons:
First up, we won't be allowing you to edit your post without posting a reason. This will allow us to ensure you leave a timestamp for your last edit. Not only that, like the rules demand, this in itself stands as a reminder to post in your topic why your edits are. If you sneakily thought you could post an edit after finishing your eval before, no longer!
Following this, we have a new add-on preventing user-name changes. Now you'll need to ask the staff to change your name. This is a preemptive move to prevent name trolling people.
We hope everyone can come to enjoy these new add-ons!
Now, what else are we bringing you? If you've paid attention to the forum at all, you've already noticed it! We have new themes! These themes are built from two ends, so let's start from where we were.
Before anything else, here's how you can change these themes, if you didn't know how:
Profile -> Edit Profile -> Settings -> Forum Theme
What we use to have is now known as "PB Godai Classic". This consists of pure monotone colors, and a pitch black background.
Why is this no longer the norm? Because Godai needed a facelift. While the Classic theme was excellent as far as a professional theme, it wasn't quite as 'welcoming'. And that's where the rest come in.
So on the opposite end of the spectrum we get the "Rayquaza" Theme. This theme consists of a mixture of greens, yellows, and reds to give the feeling that it was designed to represent Rayquaza and Shiny Rayquaza (and their Mega forms!), giving a more welcoming but still well made appearance. As an extra bonus if you mouse over a forum, it highlights it in green for that extra aesthetic bonus.
Between Godai Classic and Rayquaza themes we have two other themes.
Closer to the Godai Classic theme, we have "Godai Dark", which adds gray to the backgrond and some tans, gray headers, and a green header text to make the site more aesthetically pleasing. This is our current default skin until the below vote.
Closer to the Rayquaza Skin is "Godai Gray", which is basically the Rayquaza theme without the green background. It's just a small color spruice up, and we will be renaming shortly to "Shiny Rayquaza".
Now let's talk business!
Right now, "Godai Dark" is our default skin. But we want to figure what's the most aesthetically pleasing of these skins and make that our default skin going forth, and thus the skin new members see first. This will not force them, of course, to that theme, and they can go forth with changing their theme as they please.
So do all of us a favor and send me, vartio a PM with your top 3 themes of the bunch. I will tally them to form a score based on rank and that will decide which skin becomes Godai's new default!
Coming soon will be patch 2.1.0, which will include the actual systems updates including the new EXP systems. Please stay tuned.
