This pale skin little girl walks around with a lot of spunk for someone who has spent the majority of her life inside. She believes there is nothing she cannot overcome. She is always amazed at everything she sees and, when not trying to win at life, always has a curious look on her face. She is very innocent. Her life experience is level 0 due to being a heavy gamer and her boy experience is level -1. Her only real interaction with boys at her age was her tutor. In school, she was more focus on passing her classes so she could become this super trainer and that left little time for boys. This leaves her weak to romance skills and may cause her to panic if someone starts flirting with her.
In terms of the way she cares for herself, Violet keeps a very natural look. She combs the knots out of her hair but she does not use hair products. She also does not wear makeup outside of cosplay. However, this all changes if she sees someone she likes. When around such a person, she tries to comb her hair straight and might put on a little make-up. If she were around another person who is actually good with make-up, then she would beg him or her to give her tips. At best, she can do her lips and maybe the blush, on a good day. Nails, on the other hand, are her specialty. She always keeps them cut, so her button mashing will not suffer, and is capable of some elaborate nail art. Her favorite color to paint them is... blue. Blue is secretly her favorite color despite normally wearing purple.
The first thing someone would say if they saw Violet would be, "Wow, she looks like she just came out of a video game." The first thing someone would say if they had a conversation with her would be, "Wow, this girl acts like she is in a video game." The first thing someone would say if they challenge her would be, "God d*** it, this is not a video game." To which she would respond. "Life is the greatest game and I plan to get the high score!"
Gamer at heart: Spending a good chunk of her life staring at a screen, Violet actively turns live into a video game. She looks at everything as points. She gives these points when she feels someone does well and she takes away points when she feels someone does poorly. This even includes her Pokémon. She treats jobs as quest and adventures as dungeons. She even calls gym leaders bosses. She also uses a lot of gaming slang like newbie and OP. It will not take long for people to see that she thinks she is living in a game, especially when she makes them play it.
Single Player: Violet has never had many friends. She used to believe that her father forgotten about her only to find out it was her mother who kept him away. While she is still mad at her mom, she knows she will eventually forgive her. She is very cautious of new people. She still fears being abandoned. She also worries that people will not like her. Between her competitive nature and having Cinder beside her, she manages to fight through it every day.
Rule Bender: She tries to follow the law of the world but she is not afraid to bend the rules in order to get ahead. She will only bend the smaller rules like trespassing or stealing a berry if the good would out way the bad. Just like in a video game, one must way their odds. You can let your Pokémon die from hunger or you can take an apple from a shopkeeper who is not looking and pay them back later. “There ain’t no rest for the wicked.”
Competitive: Some say life is not a game. Well Violet disagrees. Life to her is the biggest game and she is aiming to be number one. This can be anything from getting the most wins in Pokémon battles to seeing whose Pokémon is the bravest, a game, which Cinder completely despises. Ideally, if there could be a winner, Violet strives to be that winner. This could get annoying for others and her Pokémon because she is always pushing them to be number one. Even if she or one of her Pokémon are weak at something, she stays confident in there ability to win. She always has faith in her team even if that team does not believe in their self.
Jealous: Violet is a small girl with big dreams. So when somebody bigger then her appears she can get a little more desperate to show off. This also goes into effect if an older girl appears and starts showing off her assets. Violet is not some perverted girl who will just strip naked to please boys, but if another girl is getting a lot of attention and she is not, especially if she likes one of the boys, she would make an extra effort to look prettier or make the other woman look bad. She is a little self-conscious but she hides that behind her competitive nature. It would not even be too far fetch to say that is why she is so competitive.
Brave: Violet is not fearless in the face of danger. However, the thing that makes her brave is that she does not fear defeat. She will run into a losing battle if she had the slightest thought that she could win. She will challenge the odds without hesitation. She also does not allow danger to hinder her goals. She will not always remain calm, but she will never freak out or give up from the difficulty. Winners are not afraid to lose. Winners take the odds and say “Screw you statistics, I still can win!” That is not to say she is the brightest person on the block. She does some stupid things like make Cinder compete in a contest of bravery; but the one thing nobody will ever hear out of her mouth is “I regret not giving it a shot.”
Protective: Violet cares deeply for her friends and family and will do anything to protect them, like when she took on those poliwags. She did not know what would happen. All she knew was that Cinder needed her. She hates bullies and people who think they can use their strength to push others around. When she sees someone being bullied, she will go out to help them. Sometimes this can backfire because the bigger guy is not always the bad guy, but she tries her best to do what is right. Out of all her traits, this is something everyone could agree is her most redeeming quality.
Stubborn: Violet does not listen very well. She is that one person who will force that square block through the circle hole. It takes her many failures before she realizes that her "flawless" plans will not work. It borderlines stupidity the sheer tenacity she has. Her mom was even surprise that she dropped gaming to become a Pokémon trainer so easily. Though Violet is hardheaded, she is able to get away with doing things that would demoralize the average person. This trait is why many trainers would hate battling against her.
Flashy: Another quirk she picked up from her gaming days. Violet loves flashy wins. She loves to show off how awesome she is and she loves it when other people make big attacks. In fact, if a battle does not include at least one explosion, then that battle has failed Violet. If she could, she would bring party poppers to every battle and light them off whenever she gave a finishing move. She also loves those dramatic pauses like when she finds the answer that no one can figure out. She will wait until she has the spotlight and then pause for 10 seconds before giving the answer. Oh, bonus points if she is wrong and just wastes everyone’s time.
Ever since Violet could hold a controller, she has always played video games. Her father was gone most of her life due to his career as a scientist who studied ghost Pokémon. Her mother, on the other hand, took care of her while working as a computer engineer. Back then, Violet was not so obsessed with games and would look forward to the few days she would see her father. She did not have many friends because she was always studying in order to go with her father on one of his trips. It was a tough thing for her and her mom but they made due until the day she turned 5. Her father missed her 5th birthday for some reason and her mother was finally fed up with the man. She divorced him and moved to a different area of the capital.
When her mother broke the news, Violet was horrified. How could her father miss her only birthday? It was the only day in the year he promised to come home. Since that day, she fell into a deep depression. She thought her father was never going to come back and turned to videogames. Despite being allowed to forget about everything, it was not enough. It could never filled the hole her missing father left and soon Violet would shut herself off from the world.
She refused to speak to any of the other kids or adults. The teachers became worried because she never paid attention nor did any of the class work. The only time she would interact with them was when she turned in her homework. She was bullied and beaten up a few times for acting "weird." After a few months the teachers found out but could not do anything due to her never saying anything. Nobody could get a response out of the girl, not even her mother.
After seeing Violet fail all her classes, the mother immediately started home schooling the girl. It was very time consuming but she managed to get Violet's grades back up by the end of the year. While doing that, the mother also made multiple attempts to get in contact with the father. Sadly, the father would never answer the phone. Everything seemed futile until one night a letter came in. It was Violet's father. He wanted to know how Violet was doing and if everything was working out.
The mother was ecstatic by the fact that all hope was not lost. She started writing back, asking him to write their daughter letters. She mentioned it was important but would not say why. Happy to be allowed to communicate with Violet, the father proceeded to write about his adventures. Violet saw the letter, thinking it was a dream. Her father was not gone. He was still here and loved her. Yet, he was gone for all this time. Why now would he decide to write her? When the mother asked if she was going to write him back, Violet snapped.
She thought the letter was a prank. She ripped up the letter and locked herself in her room. She took the books from home schooling and studied alone. She could not trust anyone, not even her mother now. The mother broke down and cried, blaming herself for Violets suffering. However, she did not give up. For the next 2 years and a half, she kept reading the father’s letters to Violet behind her door. Violet tried to ignore her mother thinking it was just a prank, but deep inside, she knew there was truth in those words.
One day when Violet was 8, the power went out. Unable to stay in the house, Violet's mother insisted they visit a local amateur Pokémon tournament. Violet knew this was no accident but she played along since she could not play her video games. At first Violet tried not to care but when the two Pokémon in the ring threw their most powerful attacks at each other. She saw a flash greater then any videogame. She was hooked, eager to see the next big clash. She smiled for the first time and cheered with excitement. After the match, the trainers stayed around to share their stories and experiences. Some even let the kids play with their Pokémon. Violet wanted to go join them but was discouraged after seeing the bullies from school.
One of the lesser-known trainers saw her struggling to interact with everyone around and called out one of his Pokémon, a hoppip that was not used in the battle. The hoppip flew over and landed on the girls head. Violet started to cower; scared it was going to attack her. Then the man rested his hand on her shoulder. Violet turned to the stranger wanting to runaway and hide. She looked for her mom but the woman disappeared. She turned to the man and suddenly was not scared anymore. He wore sunglasses and a baseball cap. The man took his hand off the girl and said she could play with hoppip.
After a while most of everyone was gone. The mother returned to take Violet home. Violet was sad to go as she wanted to play with the hoppip more. In hopes of making his only fan feel better, he pulled an incubator that held a Pokémon egg and told her that if she ever wanted something then she should go out and find it. Then the man left with the hoppip. The mother was surprised when he gave up the Pokémon and inspected it. She noticed a letter poking out from under the egg. She took the letter and kept it a secret from Violet. Then she nearly started crying. When Violet inquired what her mom was doing, the moms said she would need a training license to take care of the egg.
The next week, Violet went back to school and enrolled in Pokémon training electives. Her mission, obtain a trainers license. However, she would not just become any Pokémon trainer. She was going to become a Pokémon master. Then when she met that trainer again, she would battle him and thank him for everything. Her mom was so happy her daughter was back to normal. She returned to being a bundle of energy and focusing on school. She burst out in tears smothering Violet was a hug.
Her first day at school was rough. Though she was gone for nearly 3 years, many people remembered her. They remembered how she was always alone, would not talk, and was failing school. Whenever she spoke to them, they would ignore her and tell her to go away. This treatment would worsen when she quickly rose to the top of the class. All of this changed when the trainer class started.
When Violet entered her first practice battle, she lost horribly. The video games where so much simpler. She never had to worry about things like positioning, or her Pokémon’s personality. The game did all of that for her. Real Pokémon could even dodge attacks. It was astonishing to her. All the losses took a toll on her grade. The only reason she did not fail was because of her test scores. Finally the other kids had something they could beat Violet at, and they used every chance they had to prove they were better.
Her first semester was terrible. She started making silly mistakes like using ground base moves on flying Pokémon and forgetting about special abilities such as Flash Fire. The other kids just laughed calling her a wannabe, nerd, and hopeless. Violet tried her best to ignore them but she could not overlook the constant losing. It drove her crazy that she could not win. She knew all the answers. She played through the scenarios hundreds of times on the games. For the first time in her life, she found something she could not beat and was ready to give up.
Before she could submit the request to change classes, a boy bumped into her and took her paper. He then claim to take away points from her life's score. At first, Violet was confused. She did not understand what life points were but she never liked losing points on anything. So she tried to stop him and take back the paper, which only resulted in him taking away more points. She stopped, worried about losing more of these points. She had to win at "life", even if she did not understand the game. The boy proceeded to give her quest, or task as you would say in the real world. Fearful of losing points, she proceeded to complete them.
Slowly these quests taught her the difference between the games and real life. It was very tough as she was force to think outside of her games' logic to complete them. Anytime she was caught up on the game logic, the boy would take away points. She improved day after day. After 2 weeks, she finally won her first battle. It was a grueling fight. She had a squirtle and she was fighting an oddish, but after knocking out each of the plants pollen attacks with water sport, it slip and she finished it off with a skull bash. After her win, she could not find the boy again. Her grades went up and she continued to hold her own in battle. She also kept using the point system.
At the end of the school year, the graduating students started walking across the stage. There she finally saw the boy. At the end of the ceremony she went to thank him and tried to give him the medal she earn from her first win. He thanked her but refused. Instead he told her that "the Heroine never gives up.” Then he walked away.
A few months later while she was sleeping, she heard some cracking from her egg. She screamed, worried that her egg was breaking but her mom assured her that it was the opposite. They both watched as the egg hatched and out came a litwick. It was so small and cute that Violet ran to tackle it. However, it screeched and let Violet fly through it. Then it fainted from being scared. With all the irony and stupidity in the room, the mother face palmed. Later after everyone calmed down, Violet named it Cinder and tried to hug it again but she just passed through it.
The ghost was very shy and scared but Violet did not care. It was going to be her partner and she would make it work somehow. She would take it everywhere with her. Cinder did not trust Violet at all because of Violets high energy levels. This all changed when Cinder ran away into the forest alone. Violet was playing with fire and accidentally made a giant flame which scared off her partner. Cinder immediately fled the scene and ran into a group of wild polywags near a pond. They all started bulling the candle ghost until Violet appeared. She jumped in front of their watergun attacks to protect her partner. Then she scolded the polywag for bullying her friends while waving a big stick. The Pokémon became scared and ran off. From then on, Cinder started trusting Violet and instead of running away, she runs behind Violet.
Before Violet went to obtain her Trainers License, her mom went to have a talk with her. The mom explained the real story about her father, how she ran away from him, how she would not let him see her, how he loved and watched over her. Violet was terribly upset with her mom and ran out the house. Cinder followed but did not do anything. After seeing Violet weep under a tree, she allowed Violet to touch her. Violet hugged Cinder tightly and the Pokémon resisted the urge to phase away. Cinder even, regrettably, pulled Violet to get her license. She never returned home and left out to start her journey.
