Hello people of Godai. For those who don't know me, I'm often called Kris. I'm a 23 year old who currently lives with her parents.
Earlier this year I applied for the University of South Australia to study a one-year course for next year. This course is an entrance-level course that will provide me with guaranteed entrance into whichever course I decide to do, (Which I intend to spend the next 12 months choosing.)
The University is just under 500 miles away from where I currently live.
I have tried doing University before, right when I left school, but as it was online I was distracted fairly easily and felt I didn't need to concentrate on my studies so much. (I also discovered the course I signed up for wasn't what I wanted to do..) But now with the $3000 debt, I figure I'll be better off if I actually go.
I plan to move out of my parents' home and live 800 kilometers away. I'll be moving from a small country town with a population of around 3000 people, to the capitol city of my state. (Despite it being a capitol though, it's an insanely small city).
The whole point of this thread is to mainly ask for opinions of those who have moved out. I'm unsure if I want to rent an apartment on my own (Which would be my preference) or be smarter and save money by sharing a house with some of my father's friends. (There's a lady with a son who is my age, currently doing an arts degree, which is something I'm planning to look into. I'd just pay rent and stay in a room? I guess?)
I don't know when to move, do I move before or after Christmas? New Years? I have to come back early next year, around March or May, for my sister's wedding, for which I'm a bridesmaid.)
I don't even know if I'll be accepted into Uni, which I wont find out until the 20th/21st of December.
I had planned to choose where I lived until that date, because if I'm accepted into Uni, that decides if I live near the campus or in the city where there's more transport options.
That's another thing, I have no driver's license, so how do I move my computer/Tv/Books/DVDs/Clothes/ etc? I suppose I'd get a moving company or someone with a truck, but how would I find anyone who's willing to drive near 500 miles?
Is there anything else I'm missing? Please let me know, because I really don't handle stress very well, and I'd like this process to be as easy/stress-free as possible...
If possible.. haha.
