He also loves giving Yuri hugs.

As the sun inevitably bid adieu to the denizens of Godai, many of them were already home. As was the case around most of the world here too people liked to unwind after a long and arduous day, whether it was through dinner or just enjoying a drink while some good old fashioned TV was on in the background. While there were many people living in the region, a considerable number of adults liked to sit back and watch the news at that particular hour. It was time for the evening news, the most watched time slot in all of Godai. A titan in this genre of television was the "Godai News Network", or simply GNN, as it held the number one spot in both ratings as well as public approval. And like every other day its coverage of the daily events continued uninterrupted. Focusing in on a particular bit on news many a Godians would soon learn about the existence of one of their own. A news anchor looked up from a piece of paper as the camera view was switched to focus on her. A seasoned professional in her early to mid thirties, the attractive brunette addressed the camera with familiarity and finesse. “Further development in one of today's top stories. Chaos on the Ferry "S.S. Tidal" erupted today as a massive rescue operation was launched after several passengers jumped overboard during a routine voyage from Kroy to Brillaya Coast. What was initially believed to be an accident where a teenage girl jumped overboard turned out to be an attempted kidnapping. As always our traveling reporter Larry has the inside scoop. Larry, what have you learned since we last spoke about this?" A middle-aged man wearing a brown suit and holding a microphone got switched into view. Holding the piece of equipment in his left hand the balding individual nodded as the audio feed was transmitted into his ear, while the S.S. Tidal was behind him. It had taken him a few seconds to hear everything his colleague said before he would address the many viewers. "That's right Susan. What was initially believed by the Coast Guard to be a simple rescue operation turned out to be material for an action movie. The event took place around 3PM today during a scheduled voyage of the S.S. Tidal from Kroy to Brillaya Coast. What was initially reported as several passengers jumping ship took a turn for the worse as new facts came to light in a matter of hours. From what we've learned from eye witnesses who were on the scene it appears an attempt was made to kidnap a teenage girl with the initials S.H. A Godian who was a passenger, the young woman, in order to foil the attempt jumped overboard after her guardian was incapacitated by the assailant. The event unfolded on one of the lower decks of the vessel, which you can see behind me." Gesturing towards the floating behemoth the news reporter cleared his throat as footage from earlier in the day played over him, showing police arriving on the scene and people leaving the ferry. "From what we've been told the perpetrators had a boat of their own and wanted to make their escape that way. Their identities remain unknown but it has come to light that they owned several pokemon which they used during the crime. It is believed that their attempt would have been successful had it not been for the actions of another passenger. Pokemon Trainer Yuri Sharp, witnessed the young girl falling and and with complete disregard for his own safety jumped after her. A person traveling with him alerted the authorities about the incident almost immediately while Mr. Sharp proceeded to find the young S.H. and drag her to Shoaltide Path. We have yet to find footage of of the young lady in question as we're told she was picked up by family members promptly after being rescued." More footage was played, this time new footage of a tall dark haired man with a beard conversing with a member of the police. "GNN has obtained exclusive footage of Mr. Sharp, whom we filmed conversing with police officials after the incident. Sadly we were denied an interview as the man left Brillaya Coast in his gray sports car immediately after giving his statement. The G.T.P.D. has launched an investigation and interviewed witnesses shortly after the ferry docked, but has had trouble due to the nature of the event. With us is Janice Hochnstein, PR Manager with the Godai Coast Guard. Janice, what can you tell us about the event? You've told us that the duo was actually confronted by the criminals at Shoaltide Path but that the story got even crazier after that as a wild Gyarados attacked them." The news spread like wildfire throughout the region, both on the news and online. It was just too juicy not to cover. In short it focused on the identity of the mysterious girl, the heroic actions of the quiet Pokemon Trainer who fought of the dangerous kidnappers and also defeated a massive feral Gyarados before the Coast Guard reached them and brought them back on board the S.S. Tidal.

~ Road to Glostericce ~ As many of Godai's citizens enjoyed the day winding down, whether it was at home or outside, a certain man traveled South. Shielded by the night's darkness a sleek sports car was cruising down the road. The engine rumbling as the metal carriage matched the speed limit. With every minute he was getting closer, his destination being the gem known as Glostericce. The navigation system made sure to remind him of that, periodically speaking out in a sterile dry female tone and informing him that and when he was to make a right turn. All the while loud music was blasting in a foreign language as the driver allowed himself time to think ahead and plan, while trying to keep his thoughts about that day's events buried. Why was he heading South? The most accurate answer to that question was that he wanted to challenge a gym leader. And the Glostericce town pokemon gym was the closest one that he could reliably seek out. After all it was in an actual town. There was also the Firebird Villa gym in this part of the country, but there were a couple of problems with that one. The biggest one being that Yuri couldn't get any reliable information on when he could actually see the gym leader there. Another proper problem being that it wasn't in an actual city so there were no pokemon centers around. It was an absolute mess from his point of view, because not only was the gym in a difficult location but Yuri's team needed to visit a center before he could even consider battling again. In the end it didn’t really matter all that much because he always intended to challenge this particular gym first anyway. And while it certainly took him a while to reach it, as the bass continued to hit hard he blinked in a bit of a surprise as the realization hit home. He was actually here, at the door step of his first goal. His first gym badge.Oddly enough he was the lone human in the car. His traveling buddy and fellow pokemon trainer Saaya had decided to work on her tan at Brillaya Coast for a few days and then head further South to Tiensee Town, where they agreed to meet up again. After today's events maybe she needed a few days to gather her thoughts, after all she did see Yuri jump of a ferry just hours ago. Maybe them traveling together wasn't as appealing a proposition anymore? She was adamant in one other thing however, that being that she wouldn't challenge any gym leaders just yet. She felt too inexperienced for such an endeavor. And while Yuri couldn't claim that he was some massively experienced trainer himself, nor deny feeling pressure at the thought of staring down the respected Sylvia, he didn't allow himself to shy away from the challenge. He'd know soon enough how far he came in his current journey. Charmeleon wouldn't let him down, he truly believed that. " Силвиа... Победићемо тe... Sylvia i eventualno Eli..." Like a mantra the names of his opponents echoed inside his mind, in his native language he thought about where he was heading. Who he wanted to defeat. This was good, the Shtear native thought pressing the gas pedal ever so slightly and the brand new BMW replied instantly with speed. He liked being like this, having purpose and a goal. He felt lost before, as if he'd been striped of his identity and soul. This was good, he was becoming a proper pokemon trainer. It took a while but he was finally seeing what it meant for him to be one and walk on this path. The first person on his list was the Steel type trainer. He wasn't a stranger to competition, nor did he allow fear to reign inside his mind. Even though it had been a very long day for the man, the music carried him and he simply kept on trucking. An almost three hour drive was what was in store for him, if he honored the speed limit, and he wasn’t slowing down to enjoy the sights. It had been just that day that his Scyther evolved into Scizor, and he caught two more pokemon after an exciting ride on a ferry. He made a friend, and was hassled by some reporters but in the end he was on his way again. It had been a long day, regardless whether he admitted it or not. Swimming in the open ocean had a way of draining ones energy... His pokemon, who he affectionately refereed to as his team were in need of rest as well. Several of his pokemon were to be brought to a pokemon center before anything else. Charmeleon, Staravia and Mareep in particular were in need of medical assistance before anyone else while Chansey and Scizor could use some rest as well but not to the same degree. The only one who was fit for action at a moments notice at this point was his Absol, and while many would describe Yuri as a daredevil he was not insane to challenge a gym with only one pokemon. They, meaning both he and his pokemon, had a grueling experience behind them, but it was not a losing effort as the team grew with the additions of a Tentacool that fancied itself a model and a ferocious Gyarados. The massive sea serpent in particular had a mean streak about it that both excited and scared Yuri at the same time, for the King of the Sea was a creature that demanded respect if nothing else. How was he to go about training that beast, he wondered overtaking a red sedan. As the minutes passed a bottle of water was slowly being emptied by the aspiring trainer. He was not a machine after all, and needed to replenish energy like any other person. A sandwich to go and a bottle of water, that was what he had to work with and until he reached his destination that would have to do. Of course if Yuri could have his pick he'd obviously go for meat, of the grill or out of the oven didn't matter much at this point. Aside from his heroic antics and speeding down the motorway, and getting to witness the coast on his left and Mt. Quemar on his right, the burly man also had the pleasure of describing his day in great detail to some of Godai's finest. A comprehensive interview with a gentleman who held the rank of Detective wasn't how Yuri thought he'd be spending his time at Brillaya Coast, but it could not be avoided. Holding the steering wheel with just his left hand frustration was building in the man, his right index repeatedly tapping the gear stick as the car continued passing other cars, music constantly playing as by that point the entire region had been clad in night's darkness. So there really wasn't much to look at anyway. It was well past midnight by the time he reached his destination. Approaching Glostericce was like approaching a shinning beacon from a distance. One massive beacon that would soon be joined by many more lights. Traffic was sparse of course as the AC pumped cold air inside the cockpit. As inviting and glamorous as the town appeared from a distance Yuri knew that any explorations would have to wait as the hour was late and most businesses had closed. So this was the town at the edge of Godai, Glostericce, and the home of the steel type gym. Unceremoniously, in the middle of the night, Yuri Sharp reached his first major destination. Soon the curtain would rise and he'd come face to face with the woman who occupied his mind for so long. And while many claimed that they challenged gyms out of convenience, Yuri would candidly offer a different statement. He was here on purpose, and this was his destination ever since he picked Charmander as his first pokemon. Looking back at it now, that day seemed so distant, like a faint memory from a past life. The journey from that point on was rather uneventful, as the man made sure to follow the GPS straight for the pokemon center. After all, his team needed some urgent attention. Maybe afterwards he’d see about getting something to eat...

Back in Godai's biggest city, Union, in particular Metropolitan Avenue a certain chef had just returned home after a long and particularly stressful day. Running a successful restaurant in that place was no easy task, let alone when one was as busy as he was and often took on traveling jobs to cook for hotels and distinguished individuals. His profession took him all across the world, from Aquile to Murus, and pretty much everywhere in between.
But that was his craft, he wasn't very knowledgable about medicine or computers. He couldn't really draw or build anything. But when it came to cuisine Benjamin Guilford, the Uncle of one Yuri Sharp, also known as "Uncle Ben" was nothing short of a super star in the field. Decorated and notorious for his ability to draw out flavors the aging chef was a bit confused how his own nephew never developed interest for it.
Yuri was such a glutton, to the point that Ben wondered if the young man liked food or women more. But the truth was that the aspiring Dragon Tamer was just more interested in running a business than actually being the one to serve the customers, although in Ben's absence he even did that. And was actually fairly competent given his limited experience. He just missed the guy, him and his little gang of mini monsters. They brought the apartment to life... even that white furred one that always sought attention.
With the window open Yuri's uncle sat down in his favorite chair and reflected on the day behind him, drink in hand. His poison of choice was of course whiskey neat. Upon Yuri's request he hired a few new waiters, although truth be told before Ben made them shave they looked like gangsters, and the trio of men was managing somehow. But not without giving him a fair bit of headache in the process. In due time they'd make passable employees, though sometimes he just wanted to smack them upside their shaved heads. Beer was not an acceptable drink before a meal dammit!!!
But that was all behind him, now he could relax, watch a bit of TV and just unwind a bit. Maybe see what was going on in the rest of Godai, although surely the news would be filled with rising gas prices and politicians arguing. Still it was better that the device was on, so that it may provide his brain with an alternative to drinking in silence. What came next though shocked the man as he saw his own flesh and blood, his nephew, on the flat-screen TV!
"What the..." The man involuntarily uttered, unsure of why the jackass of a nephew was being talked about. What was he up to? He saved someone? He fought criminals? A Gyarados too?!?! WHERE DID HE GET THAT CAR?!?!?
What was going on here!?

The denizens of Glostericce Town enjoyed clear skies and pleasant, almost chilly, weather on that particular night. There weren't many people up and about on the streets although there was traffic to be seen. The port town was a new discovery for the bearded trainer and first impressions were formed. Clean streets, plenty of lanes and space. Quite a few shops and window displays and overall a much more corporate vibe dominated than what Yuri expected. He'd heard that this was a town of artists, although truth be told he'd never actually been here before so the rumors had little validity. Although there were people walking about with paint sets, possibly portrait artists who used parts or squares as their base? Just a guess on his part as his brain filled in the blanks.
Slowing down to match the speed limit set by the GPS of his car Yuri was also curious about possible cops, as he made his way towards his destination. He wasn't particularly keen on getting a ticket just because of something trivial as speeding, or missing a sign somewhere. The music continued to play inside the car as he also lowered the window to let some fresh air inside, noting the fresh sea air that welcomed him. This was a nice town, was the overall first impression he formed.
One more thing contributed to the positive first impression. Just meters before he made a right turn to stop for gas thunderous rumblings alerted the man, bringing his eyes to look in the rear-view mirror and spot several headlight approaching from behind. Deep inside his inner child jumped up, his eyes lighting up with energy as curiosity filled his spirit. Three vehicles sped past him at breakneck speeds, two motorcycles and one car and with their revving engines Yuri's brown eyes followed them for as long as he could. This was an interesting town, he surmised.
It was way past the regular hours for the staff of the Pokemon Center, and Yuri was well aware of that but he had little choice in when he'd arrive here. After refueling he went straight there, in need of medical attention for his pokemon team and rest himself. It had been a really long day for the Shtear native, and all he wanted to do at this point was check in and as soon as the circumstances allowed it, get some much needed rest.
Coming to a stop at the building that was the pokemon center the metal gray sports car was shut down, the foreign music stopped, and out of it a tall and muscular man emerged. Wearing some of the few dry clothes he had the man sported a body fitting black T-shirt and black sweat pants, along with clean white sneakers and a black watch. Picking up a backpack and a decently sized suitcase the man shut the trunk and locked the car before proceeding towards the entrance. After the car confirmed it was locked, Yuri pulled the suitcase towards the building and just felt relieved to finally be at his destination.
Yes, this was where he was going to challenge for his first gym badge but right now he didn't think much about it. He just wanted to get some rest, it had been a long day with everything going on. The ferry, the car, the swimming in the ocean, battling the Gyarados and those criminals, the cops, talking on the phone with some people and the stress of it all. Not to mention the trip here too sapped some of his energy which ultimately left his wanting to just simply call it a day.
His meeting with the dream world would have to wait just a bit longer however as he continued to make steps towards the exit and spotting an individual at the door. A young man with dark hair. Suspecting that he was possibly a staff member of the center Yuri quickly changed his train of thought as his eyes spotted a blue Nidoran in his arms. Which meant that she was female, a fact Yuri knew as he used to have a purple one not too long ago.
"Evening." His naturally deep voice declared walking forward while the difference in stature became quite evident. Yuri was standing opposite someone quite a bit younger than himself, thinner and shorter but somehow Yuri felt compelled to spend a second and say hi to, quite likely, a fellow pokemon trainer staying at the same pokemon center. A dark haired trainer who owned the poison type pokemon Nidoran.
"Excuse me, one question. Is the nurse in? I just arrived here and my pokemon are in need of some professional help." He wasn't exactly proud of the shape his team was in, but given their experience on that long day he was kind of surprised that they were in as good of a shape as they were. Facing of against the mighty "King of the Sea", as Yuri and the fishermen of Southwind Seaport called him, was an extreme scenario. Fighting and defeating a wild Gyarados truly was an experience, and he'd be lying if he said that he didn't think or hear the mighty roars of the fearsome sea serpent.
But right now it was back to the normal world for the bearded man, as he sought some information from this lone trainer in front of the pokemon center.

It would not be a long exchange between the two trainers, but even so there were certain impressions to be made for both of them. On Yuri's end he was introduced to Thorne and Nadia, a rather polite young man who seemed Godian by his accent. The female Nidoran didn't seem particularly interested in Yuri or sharing her trainers' attention and affection, which was always a cute trait to have as far as the Shtear native was concerned.
Receiving a fair bit of information their conversation was kept brief by the younger man, who claimed that he was in need of sleep. Which Yuri had no reason to not believe, although he could easily imagine him wanting to escape the cold as well. By that point it was a fair bit colder than it had been just a few hours earlier, easily enough that one needed a jacket if they wanted to remain outside for long periods of time. Or at the very least a proper hoodie.
"Right right, you have a good night..." Due to the nature of their goodbye the older man didn't exactly get a chance to introduce himself to his fellow trainer but maybe tomorrow he'd get that opportunity. With Thorne vanishing towards the room section of the building, most modern pokemon centers had the same layout, Yuri knew that it was unlikely that he'd see him again tonight.
"Alright then, let's go and see if we can't find that nurse..." The rest of the evening was fairly uneventful for the aspiring trainer, with him eventually getting in touch with the medical professional and leaving his pokemon in her care. Not before he received a bit of a scolding for the shape some of his pokemon were in, Mareep and Staravia in particular.
One short phone call from Sophie, another one from Saaya and a third one from Uncle Ben wrapped up the night, as afterwards he simply shut his holocaster of and went into the shower. He just wanted to wash away this day and get some sleep at that point. It really had been a long and eventful day for Yuri.

Somewhere in Godai a meeting of a different kind was taking place.
It was raining quite heavily, and it was the middle of the night. Two black SUV's were parked under the train tracks with men in black coats watching the perimeter. This wasn't good, the woman thought and she wasn't referring to the weather. She'd been summoned and she had to appear weak. She hated this!
Under the cloak of the night a woman and a man stood opposite each other, each of them holding an umbrella as to protect themselves from the elements. The woman was wearing a mink coat, had impeccable long chestnut colored hair that reached her upper back but nobody could see her face but the person in front of her. She was silent however.
"What happened?" The clean shaven man asked in a dry tone. He already knew that things didn't go as planned. That much was obvious, he wouldn't be here if things went according to plan.
"A minor set back." She never broke eye contact and maintained a strong image, making the man wonder if she was truly as strong or just an idiot. He snapped back a retort, his tone the same while his words were anything but.
"Minor? Seems to me like our entire operation in South Godai gets delayed because you didn't deliver. Now what the hell happened? Who is Yuri Sharp and why was he there?"
"He's nobody. We'll handle him." The rain seemed to intensify.
"Sure doesn't seem like a nobody. And the hell you will. He's about on every TV screen in Godai and you want to go after him? No no no, you're gonna keep your distance and when the time is right we'll approach Mr. Sharp. See if maybe he's interested in moving up in the world. I'll have someone else handle that. In the mean time I want you to focus on the Firebird situation in Union and get those contracts for us. And Queen..." For the first time during their brief exchange the man seemed to actually move as he approach the tall woman. "Don't come before me like this again if you want to be in the inner circle. This isn't Everlight District..." One final insult after the instructions concluded their meeting.
Walking back into his luxurious car the man addressed the two people in front. "Talk to me."
"Yuri Sharp. 26, Born and raised in Sumlote, Shtear to father Boris from Godai, and mother Elena from Shtear. They both live abroad, father works for one of our subsidiaries but spends most of his time in Shtear. Very well respected executive from what I hear, real private but gets jobs done. No info on the mother just yet. Now Sharp Junior here has Dual citizenship. Went to GSUC, Graduated Top 5 of his class, worked for us for a bit. You'll wanna read this... now recently... Top 5 in his Pokemon Trainer exam for which he applied three days before certification. Vero, this guy seems promising. Real wolf in sheep's clothing type..."
