Ariana Saint: Dear former readers I do hope you are enjoying these lengthening, golden days of spring, I sure am!
Saint: This special edition of the Gazette is being brought to you through video and hologram due to news from outside our borders! Yes, if you remember the last issue, we mentioned that Queen Erika and the Nijuu were meeting with different representatives from several different countries, among them, the nation of Isda. We were not sure as to the nature of these meetings, but we are now. The more astute of you will also remember from our August issue, in which we wrapped up Summer, that the State bought large quantities of land in South and North Godai. What do these have to do with each other? It turns out that over the past year the change to the ecology brought about by the smuggling operation gone awry has left some species in unstable conditions, some experts even connect the Pokerus to this event. In an attempt to help restore balance, foreign powers have opened up negotiations to share plants, animals, and pokemon from different countries. The land bought was carefully guarded and used as a place to safely breed these new organisms to calculated sizes before introducing them into the rest of the country.
Saint: In short, many new pokemon are going to be found in the wild! Pokedex manufacturers have been working non-stop and a new line of updates will be available for trainers who wish to read up about these new creatures. Some of them are actually distant cousins to species we have in Godai! We call them "Isdan Forms." In return for this, Godai is also sending some of our ecology, technology, and other resources to these foreign lands something that hasn't happened in many years.
Saint: There are several results of this exchange Cobalt and Firebird have released Four new TMs. TM167 Leech Life, TM168 Brutal Swing, TM169 Smart Strike, and TM170 Aurora Veil. The lattermost and three more now being sold in a few Pokemarts. Similarly, Firebird has released an item called the Adrenaline Orb, which has very interesting effects. Current, reclusive CEO Cogna Firebird had this to say,
The shot cuts to a squirrely man in a dark suit. His eyes are dark and has lines on his face
Cogna Firebird: We hope to introduce some more very niche items that can be used in a variety of situations, this is one of them."
Cuts back to Saint.
Saint: Unfortunately that's all we could get out of him. Not much for words huh?
Saint: We have new candorous items as well. There are a variety of new seeds and nectars that can be cultivated from new plants that react with pokemon. We're going to Jericho McGreggor, owner of MvGreggor's Berry Farms in Wisteur.
Cuts to a burly man with a wide brimmed hat, wearing plaid, and speaking with a gruff voice and slight drawl.
McGreggor: The plants we've been nursin' have taken real well to Godai's climate, even if they started in a tropical place. The winter's might be pretty tough for 'em but that's what we got our Sunny Dayers for.
Saint: And finally, I saved the most amazing for last, these new pokemon and experts on them have shared with us a powerful secret. From the isles of Isda, an ancient tradition in pokemon training comes across the sea to Godai. Their culture has harnessed the powers of aura, specifically that shared between a pokemon and its trainer, and used it to create amazing new abilities that they have called Z-Moves.
Saint: As always, let's turn to our resident biologist, Professor Leigh Marshall.
Cuts to Leigh Marshall, sporting a lap coat and deep shadows under his eyes
Marshall: Z-Power, as it's called in general, shares a lot in common with Mega Evolution, which scientists, regretably myself included, are still uncovering. A special mineral called Condorium, closely related to Candorite, but that we used to think had no purpose besides being generally aural, can be used as a catalyst very similarly to the various Candorite Mega Stones. If Candorium is held by a pokemon who trusts their trainer, and the two are in close proximity while the trainer has their own Candorium, then a special power can be summoned that amplifies and transforms an attack into something magnanimously greater.
Cuts to Maxwell Ashford sporting a full, bushy beard and shining eyes.
Saint: Ashford also has some information,
Ashford: Upon learning this, my development team has spent several months bringing out a new line of Mega Accessories that feature Candorium so that they can be used to perform Z moves, be safe out there kids!
Saint: The Queen also approached me to share some information
Cuts to Queen Erika Barden wearing a fashionable and minimalistic dress. Atop her chestnut colored hair is a full crown, she speaks matter-of-factly
Barden: I and the rest of the Nijuu have decided that Z-moves will be held under the same laws as Mega Evolution, in that it will be met with severe punishment if anyone attempts to perform it without having two TIS Gym Badges in their possession.
Cutting Back to Saint, with a genuinely ecstatic look on her face.
Saint: Check out my blog for my thoughts about speaking with the ******* Queen of Godai!
Saint: Alright Godai, have a peaceful time as always, signi-
Heavy static and distortion appears before a voice under heavy filtering cuts in sporadically
Distorted Voice: [garbled static]-s r-s [static]-us eyes- [static] N-us Eyes [static]
Cuts to Saint, once more, looking very shocked and concerned, visibly trying to hold it together
Saint: I'm sorry for the technical difficulties, there seems to be a bug that we're trying t-
Cuts back to static that breaks to show the Five pointed Star Symbol
Distorted Voice: Nexus - Rise [static] Nexus Will Rise.
One brief cut to Saint angrily shouting at someone before returning, without static, to the Five Pointed Star
Distorted Voice: Nexus will rise, and all who can see the truth, all who can only see its shadow and wish to be enlightened, find that Dark Kernel in the Light and the question of the Numerate i Pi, and you shall rise too.
A Recording of Saint, spoken at the same time as the Distorted Voice: E Pluribus, Unum/Ex Una, Plures
Cuts to continuous static.
{OOC Notes}
I hope you enjoyed this long-awaited update! Thanks a bunch for your patience and to those of you who helped. It's very appreciated!
A few notes about some things that changed in Gen VII. Some pokemon got stat boosts and changes, they were small enough so that they didn't really change anything in our system though. If any moves changed in Base Power or had any effects changed, we will use the latest information unless specified elsewhere in our Special RP Dex. If you are confused go ahead and ask a Mod~ Make sure you don't forget to call them Isdan pokemon, not Alolan~ (At least in Character). We have no system set up for Ash-Greninja, but one may be coming in the future, based on any new information we might receive. Also, Rotom-Dex will not be a part of our canon due to our interpretation of pokemon and their abilities.
I'm sure some of you will be asking about Ride Pokemon and HMs. There will be no change to our system based on this feature. Your character has and always will be able to ride their pokemon for a faster journey (size permitting). Having a stoutland will not act like a free Item Finder, mainly because any pokemon with the move Dig already has that. Our HMs will still have the same effects as they always have as well.
And Finally, it tookfiveever a long while but we updated the pokedexes with the latest movesets, and tried to be as generous as possible. For some pokemon we decided to use an older generation's moveset because the only update was that they raised the levels required for moves. We don't think we need to apply that here. If your pokemons' movesets have changed, please submit a modification and link this announcement post as the source. This is an unfortunate retcon so please do not try to justify or explain why your character's pokemon might suddenly be able to perform new moves or not be able to perform other ones. We will survive with a little inconsistency this one time lol.
If you notice any discrepancies or mistakes in the update, let a mod know via chat, PM, or post in the questions and suggestions forum and we'll get to you as soon as we can~
