Breaking News!
Over the past 3 months amazingly strange things have happened across this great nation!
As I'm sure you all remember, there was an earthquake those months ago. A Magnitude 5.8 right in the heart of Central! Albeit not anything too destructive, I'm sure some of those in the area are trying to scoop up grandma and put her back on the mantle. Repairs are nearly complete, thanks to our wonderful State organizing comittees, and there shouldn't be any lasting damages in the outer prefectures.
That isn't what's caught most people's eyes though. Those wonderfully mysterious creatures we call Pokemon have given us two new mysteries to investigate.
The first has been investigated since people began reporting some pokemon behaving very differently... Strange new powers, like gusts of wind that don't hurt bugs and grass. Mists and Hazes that seem to protect from statuses effects. Shouts that never seem to miss! And what's even more strange is that these, I guess you'd have to call them new attacks, can cripple the extremely rare but powerful Dragon Types! Beyond that, any counter-attack from that type seemed to fail entirely!
I interviewed Godai's leading expert on Biology, Professor Leigh Raymond Marshall PhD, and in his opinion, "What we are dealing with must be no other than a new type, a new flavor of energy that Godai's never seen before." He continued, "After extensive and tireless research . . ." Based on what I've heard and his haggard appearance, this reporter can guess he means the latter very literally, "I've decided to dub the new energy, 'Fairy Type' Due to its willingness to follow old Fairy Tale archetypes."
And yet this story continues! As if a new type wasn't enough to stomach, several professional Pokemon Breeders have been arrested for illegally breeding non-native pokemon. Yes, somehow, despite border controls, nearly 70 new species of Pokemon have been bred in captivity, the purpose remains unknown, with no word from the Police Force.
However, even this isn't quite normal. As you all know, two pokemon mating always produces a single egg. What's strange is that, given the time span that they were able to do this, These 70 species of pokemon have already been bred to massive populations. I brought up the subject with Prof. Marshall, "The only possible explanation of how there could have been this massive spike in population is a spike in fertility. It happened to the native pokemon too. Something must have happened in the recent past that made these creatures able to procreate at massively exponential rates." Maybe the earthquake got their loins jiggling, huh Mr. Marshall?
Now onto more technological subjects. The ever famous Cobalt Corporation has just unveiled their newest Gadget! It's called a Holocaster. It makes the previous Xtranceiver look absolutely archaeic! Read more about it Here!
They, along with Firebird, have also pushed out an astounding number of new TMs, bringing the grand total up to 175 moves! Be ready, those on their mailing lists, that catalogue is going to be heafty!
Furthermore, you might have read stories about a strange vain of minerals that miners in the Seiyo Mountains to the West discovered about five years ago. Geologists couldn't quite indentify what they were or what they could be used for, however, so they quickly became a new type of luxury item. Some made jewlery out of these tri-colored gems and others gave them as gifts to their pokemon. Sometimes though, these pokemon grew strangely attached to these gems, "My poor Ampharos would never let it go. I got really worried about him," reported one farmer in reference to the patriarch of his herd, "I eventually accepted the fact that he wouldn't hold onto anything else, thankfully I'm not a trainer . . ." Well I bet you wish you were one after reading this! It turns out that there are actually 28 different varieties of these stones and that each one corresponds to a specific species of pokemon! That's not the best part, these stones hold the key to a secret, new type of evolution! That's right, 28 different kinds of pokemon how have the ability to become even stronger!
Professor Maxwell Ashford, MS, had this to say, "Working Jointly with Leigh, I developed two new devices that work together to trigger this leap in evolution." He explained, "We've called the gems, 'Mega Stones' and named each variety after the pokemon that they evolve. They're made of a similar stubstance, but don't work like regular evolution stones, which is why, even though they must have been around for millenia, if not eons, this new process of evolution is only just being made. The devices I created are what I'm calling a 'Mega Ring' and a 'Key Stone.' The Mega Ring is basically an amplifyer and a transmitter. The Keystone is where the magic happens. It's a generalized version of the Mega Stone that works with all variants through a human. When the latent power inside the Key Stone is amplified and transmitted outward, it makes another Mega Stone activate, thus forcing the evolution process." Who says Engineers need a Doctorate in order to be brilliant? "Unfortunately it is not perfect, and difficult to control. Right now it can only send out enough energy to trigger a single mega stone, and only once per day. And Beyond that, the Megavolution has a time limit before the Mega Stone goes dormant again. A Maximum of half an hour before your pokemon reverts back to its old form." Maybe a Doctorate wouldn't hurt then would it? "We're working on other styles of amplifyers that go beyond the bracelet. Rings, Necklaces, Gloves, and other forms will be available soon" Aaand he's won me back again. Great Job Ashford.
The Nijuu have determined that, in order to maintain the safety of the country, any trainer must obtain their second gym badge or their second contest ribbon before being awarded their Mega Ring and Keystone. Which brings me to telling you that some MegaStones are slowly becoming available in certain stores across the country, so keep your wallets at the ready, trainers!
Other news from the Nijuu. They have officially sanctioned three new types of battles. Sky Battles, Surf Battles, and Dive Battles. Trainers have been performing these for a long time, but the rules were generally unregulated and it cost the lives of several young souls over the years. Sky Battles are limited to Flying Types, any pokemon that can learn fly (once it has done so) and pokemon with the ability Levitate with the exceptions of Pidgey, Spearow, Farfetch’d, Doduo, Dodrio, Gengar, Hoothoot, Starly, Pidove, and the newly dubbed Fletchling, and Hawlucha Surf and Dive Battles may be performed, but the trainer is not allowed to be in the water without a pokemon that knows either of the moves. Furthermore, as common sense would suggest, most ground type moves are ineffective in these two battles, sparring the few Mud-based moves. Similarly, Ice attacks work at around half capacity under water, and Fire attacks are entirely ineffective. During these battles, the ability Swift Swim is also in effect. And finally, don’t be that idiot that uses an electrical attack in the water.
Summer is upon us Fellow Godians, Don't let the heat go all to your head and keep hydrated.

[OOC] Btdubs, now that the odds of Shiny's have doubled in game, we've increased our odds too. It's about ten times as likely to happen as it is in the games. Who knows, Maybe I won't be the only one prancing around with a lime green delight~[/ooc]
