How long had it been? Days? Weeks? Months? Xander was not sure if he was being honest. He had lost himself in training within mount Quemar. And, outside of exercising them daily, he had been neglecting the training of his pokemon. After having fallen down a cliff while rock climbing, Xander realized how important it was to utilize every aspect of his body, mind, and strength to their fullest. This led to him becoming more of a hermit than he would have liked to admit, but within the endless days of physical and mental training he had not only gotten physically stronger but his telekinesis had gotten much stronger. Not only could he lift more with his special power, but he also had much finer control over it as well. This control was what led him to his current activity, which was using his telekinesis to hurl stones of varying sizes into the air for Galestorm to swoop down and attack.
While Xander was hurling rocks into the air for Galestorm to knock down with Peck, he also threw rocks out towards Hot Shot to attack with String Shot and Poison Sting. He not only wanted to train their precision with their attacks, but Xander also wanted to train their reaction speed. He knew that many trainers would train their pokemon to respond to certain unique commands so that they could communicate without the other trainer they were battling knowing what their next move would be, however, Xander believed that the first step should always be to build a better foundation. What did it matter if the other team knew what they were going to do if they were unable to respond in time?
While Xander knew that their battle experience would increase faster if they sought out wild pokemon to battle, he felt like it had been too long since his team had been in a battle and thus wanted to shake off the rust so to speak. That, however, was not his only reason for prolonging their search for more wild pokemon to battle. After taking a deep breath, calling Hot Shot back into his Pokeball and Galestorm down to his shoulder, Xander sat down and, once again, went over their last battle with a wild pokemon in his head.
Galestorm had been battling a Zubat when the wild Zubat had called for more of its kind after nearly being beaten in battle by Galestorm. The giant swarm of Zubat swarmed not only his Spearow, but Alexander as well, and amidst the chaos, Xander had unknowingly run towards the edge of the cliff rather than away from it. Of course, this led to him tumbling down the mountainside rather forcefully, though, luckily, neither he nor Galestorm had been seriously injured. After they had come to a stop, Xander had realized that the Zubat swarm was no longer chasing them, even so, he still hurried away from the area while carrying Galestorm in his arms.
After shaking his head to clear the memory from his mind Alexander looked over at his closest friend in the world and sighed. He could see the urge to battle in the pokemon’s eyes and knew that, as he had been, it was remembering their last battle. However, while Xander was content with hiding away and training, Galestorm was, obviously, ready to battle other pokemon and prove to itself that it was not so weak as to have to run away and hide.

While sitting on a fairly large rock, stroking Galestorm’s feathers, Alexander closed his eyes and enjoyed not only the peacefulness of the outdoors but the wind blowing across his body. Slowly but surely he had begun to come to terms with the fact that he could not hide away forever and needed to start battling again, even if it meant facing some danger. Zander knew that he was not a cowardly person but after having suffered so much through his life he had a hard time dealing with overwhelming situations. Sure, falling down the side of the cliff was pretty sucky, but he walked away from it. That alone proved that it was not nearly as bad as what had happened with his brother’s Shelgon’s evolution, though just thinking about dragon-type pokemon sent shivers down his spine. During Alexander’s introspection, a small Rockruff had, unknowingly, begun making her way closer and closer to his camp. Originally she had been intrigued by the sounds of many rocks hitting the ground repeatedly and had wanted to search out the reason for the noise, however, as she had been getting closer to the source of the commotion, the sound suddenly vanished. And while the sound may have vanished the small Rockruff’s nose picked up on the smell of a very fragrant dried jerky that she loved pilfering from unsuspecting camper’s bags. Although she had already eaten that day and was honestly quite full, the tiny pokemon could not resist the allure of the meat. True to its course, the Rockruff’s button nose led her to Alexander’s camp where she could see his bag laying on the ground near a roughly thrown together bedding of leaves and grass while he sat on a rock not too far away. The young puppy of a pokemon knew that if she was quiet and quick enough she could get the food she was after and get away while the human remained none the wiser. She, however, did not account for the Spearow perched on the human’s shoulder noticing her approach when it took to the sky as the human stood up and stretched while releasing an obnoxiously loud yawn. Or was it a groan? The Rockruff was not entirely sure. She was sure of the fact that the Spearow was planning to attack her though as it dove toward her from the sky. That was, however, until the evil bird was called off by the human. The scared little pup had been prepared to run away and hide, however, until the bird reluctantly perched back on the human’s shoulder. Sensing something was not quite right with the situation, the young Rockruff tensed all of its muscles as it crouched down closer to the ground in preparation to run with all of its speed. She had decided to wait and see exactly what the human was playing at, trying to figure out exactly what he was planning. She was quite the curious little thing after all. Every time the human took a step towards her the young pokemon would back up to keep the distance between them the same at all times. That was until she noticed that he was not trying to approach her, but his bag instead. Realizing that she no longer had a chance to get her free meal disappointed the young Rockruff and she prepared to run off and she would have too had the human not taken the dried meat out of his bag before placing it on the ground and backing away from it slowly. That confused the curious pokemon because she was not sure exactly what the human was planning by willingly giving her his food. 615 Words

Alexander let loose a loud groaning yawn as he stood up from the large rock while stretching. He had unknowingly come quite close to dozing off while sitting there relaxing. The sudden movement, and obnoxious groaning, had startled Galestorm which caused her to take off into the sky after gently nipping at Zander’s ear in dissatisfaction. However, as she did so she noticed a small Rockruff crouched down in the bushes near Zander’s bag. This frustrated Galestorm because she knew that her favorite snacks were in the bag as well. In her frustration, the young Spearow began to dive at the Rockruff from the sky until she heard Zander’s call to return. “Now now Gale, let’s not scare our new friend. They might very well join our team if we are lucky enough. We can always use more friends yah know?”
Zander's tone was not only gentle but soft as well. His gaze, too, was soft and full of compassion as he looked at the curious pokemon. It was obvious, or at least he thought it was, that the pokemon was very young. Perhaps not even a year old. He assumed this not only from its small stature but also because of its inherent curious nature. As though it was still seeing many new things for the first time.
Zander's smile brightened as he watched the Rockruff sniff the air and gradually get closer to the jerky that he had placed on the ground. He noticed, however, that the pokemon stopped a certain distance away from the meat and would not get any closer to it because they were staring at him, obviously waiting for him to move further away. Seeing the pokemon's reaction Zander chuckled lightly and he backed up even further as he took his Pokedex out of his pocket and pointed it at the new pokemon. "Oh, so you're a Rockruff huh? And according to my friend here you are a girl too. Just like Galestorm here. Well Rockruff, my name is Alexander. Zander for short. And I hope that after today we will be great friends." Although he spoke with a gentle tone, sitting down on the rock that he had been sitting on previously, Zander spoke firmly and just loud enough for the rock-type pokemon to hear him. After all, he did not want to scare the little one away by being too loud.
Once the Rockruff was sure that Zander was not going to suddenly rush over at her, she slowly made her way over to the food and began eating. While enjoying the jerky the young pokemon slowly let her guard down and laid down on the ground on her belly, completely lost in the flavor of the preserved meat. While watching the small Rockruff eat was in itself a joy for Alexander, who loved all pokemon, he knew that if he wanted to befriend her and get her to join his party, he would have to do more than just feed her once. Knowing this, Zander took out another stick of jerky from his backpack and waved it in the air towards the young pokemon. "I have more for you once you finish with that piece. However, in a show of good faith, you will have to come and get it from me."

As the wind flow suddenly changed direction, the small pokemon's button nose started twitching as it picked up the scent of the meat in Alexander's hand. Rockruff began eyeing Zander suspiciously as she finished the first piece of jerky that he had given her, wondering if the human was trying to play a trick on her. Why was the human being so good to her? What was he getting at? Surely he did not simply plan on feeding her and letting her leave? Or could he just be feeding her because he was nice?
Once she heard him say that she had to go over to him to get the second piece of meat, Rockruff decided that it was not worth it and took off into the tall grass. While she was grateful to the human for giving her some of his food and not attacking her, she did not entirely trust him yet. Maybe, if the human still there the next day, she would go and see him again. However, for now, she had decided that it was time to go.
"Well, Gale, I guess she decided that was enough interaction for now. Hopefully, she will come to see us again soon. What do you think?" Alexander smiled at the Spearow on his shoulder as he spoke to her while simultaneously causing all of the small rocks in the nearby area to begin levitating. "Alright, girl, let's get back to training."
While the two of them had returned to their unique training method, Rockruff had begun tracking down yet another interesting sound, though her nose told her that there was more than a few other pokemon in the area. As she made her way through the tall grass, Rockruff continued to investigate every unique scent and sound that she came across until she came across a group of squabbling bird-type pokemon. Although she was not sure exactly what it was they were fighting about, Rockruff could see that there were three Fletchlings and two Seagull among the arguing birds.
Thinking that it would be quite hilarious, Rockruff began to sneak through the tall grass so that she could get as close to the flying types as possible before barking as absolutely loud as she could at them. However, her little trick had the exact opposite effect than the one she thought it one. Her barking only made all five of them even angrier, at which point they began chasing her through the tall grass. Being chased by so many flying-type pokemon scared the young rock-type pokemon to the point where all she could think of was running to the last place that she knew with absolute certainty was safe. The human's camp.
Rockruff knew that it would be wrong of her to bring the nice human so much trouble, but all she could think about was running as fast as possible because she did not want to get beat up by a bunch of angry birds over a simple prank.
